Melissa,
This 5-7-5 is a good mixture of personificiation and metaphor to describe the sound of the river starting to move in the Spring melt.
Congratulations on placing second in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Hi - Congrats on your second place finish. Really enjoyed the beautiful artwork and connected imagery in your first two lines - long fingers tickle melting mountain streams. When I read this, I thought of a satori ... gurgles of giggles. Of course, 'gurgles of laughter' works fine. Wonder what you think about the alliterative 'gurgles of giggles'?
Cheers ... ;-)

Hello and thanks so much for your thoughts on the verse. I love the "gurgles of giggles" alliteration. I really hope you incorporate it into one of your pieces. It makes a person want to laugh out loud. :) Thanks again.

What delightful imagery. I love the thought of the sun having fingers that can tickle. And, those mountain springs, that do gurgle indeed, laughing in response.
This is very well done. I am just out of six star ratings. It's definitely worth a six.

I heard the sounds here and felt the chill as the sunlight battles with the season with its long fingers and manages to melt the snow into trickling water, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Some people may differ with the, "gurgles of laughter" you wrote, Melissa. After a sunny day where temperatures are cold, a little run-off becomes a flood, and the house becomes a boat. :) This is a good entry for the 5-7-5 poetry Contest. I hope you and yours and doing great and staying warm.

Excellent inagery. I like the fingers of sunlight and the stream with its gurgles of laughter. The picture you used was well chosen. The effect of the sunlight does look like fingers. Best of luck in the contest. judi
