Hi Melissa,
I don't think there are many people who are sad to see winter or spring fade. Summer, perhaps, gets a few frowns. It's the end of swimming, BBQs, and backyard campfires. Kids have to go back to school... vacations are over. But the most beautiful season is Autumn. It's genuinely sad to see color blown from the trees. Maples and birches are stripped. And when November branches slap each other, when leaves brown below, we know winter has opened his door.
Your poem tells the sad tale. I see "Old" Autumn as late November/early December. We're there right now. I actually asked my granddaughter the other day, as the sun was going down... "what color do you see in that sunset, Alyssa?" I told her not to look directly at the sun, but to the right or left. She replied: "Gold".
Nicely penned for the contest! Good Luck!
It sure is nice to see you back with us in Fanstory.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Thank you KB! As I was reading your words, I could see the wind blow the leaves around and those brisk November winds. I am still waiting to see that type of weather here in central Virginia. Perhaps, we will skip straight into winter and have those flakes of snow come... we seldom see them, but are always wishful for those blessed days of snow... Thank you for your wonderful review!

"Old Autumn gently passes..." You selected the perfect artwork for your poem. It reads well and has a nice flow. The image gives life to your well written words.

When Autumn give way to Winter, sometimes it is barely noticed. One day you are admiring the changing colors of the leaves that fall gently from the trees. Next day you wake up to a foot of snow. You ask yourself, What the heck happened to Autumn, it was just here. Winter has snuck in overnight.

You have a vivid use of words that captures the feel of Autumn passing on. Excellent two line poem that gives the reader strong feelings as one season changes into another. Excellent use of words.

Old Autumn gently passes
on golden, whispered breaths...
I like this picture of Autumn gently slipping away as the seasons change. Winter will follow.

Hello Anne. Thanks for your wonderful review. Yes, this autumn seems to be gently slipping by... I am wondering where Winter is... not here in central Virginia :).

Your poem speaks beautifully of Autumn's colours in just a few words. A lovely photo to accompany your work. I love the second line with it's personification. Thanks for sharing Franky
