I love it. I'm pretty sure I can guess who your are by the way your write. If I'm right, you've had more than you share of tragedy, but still you know how to have some really happy moments. This a very upbeat story for a really romantic person.

I think the traditional vows of a man and a woman are a sacred trust as witness before their loved ones is far, far more that "just a piece of paper." If there are children involved knowing the vows are made this way, are confirmation that they are so important, we don't get married for our own sakes, but as a witness to the world, so that these longstanding traditions are important. The nations are falling apart because of insincere promises. Beautifully written, blessings and good luck, blessings Roy

I think the traditional vows of a man and a woman are a sacred trust as witness before their loved ones is far, far more that "just a piece of paper." If there are children involved knowing the vows are made this way, are confirmation that they are so important, we don't get married for our own sakes, but as a witness to the world, so that these longstanding traditions are important. I doubt that Pharrell Williams upbeat song will have ever been played at a more appropriate situation.
Your writing style captured the details, your values, the mood and the emotion perfectly.
If we all had an attitude like yours and treated every day as if it might be our last we would be more appreciative of others, more accommodating, and more capable of finding joy in situations.

Getting married after a twenty year long love affair is really something. I suppose it has more chance of success than after a short courtship, although in this particular case it seems that it might be unhappily dogged by ill-health. I hope I am wrong and that love wins out.
