You did a splendid job here of explaining your viewpoint with an effective mix of direct observation, well known facts, logic, and resultantly justifiable faith.

Our skin tones are inherited from ancestors who lived at various distances from the equator and the degree of sunshine normal to those latitudes. Vitamin D3, a vital nutrient produced in our skin under strong sunlight, is oil soluble, so can be stored in the body, but becomes toxic in too high amounts. Darker skin prevents excess intake closer to the equator, while lighter skin compensates for reduced hours and intensity of sunlight farther from the equator. Similarly, cold dry air necessitates smaller noses and nostrils, while hot, humid air makes increased ventilation necessary, which is aided by larger noses and nostrils. NONE of that determines intelligence, personality, or fundamental character. Hence, all such visible differences simply make visual recognition of an individual easier. There is NO sane basis for hatred in ANY of this.

Divisiveness is simply an evil tactic to cause chaos in an attempt to control others. The simple solution is to ignore that nonsense, thereby rendering the would-be controller ineffective.

Compassion is the key to abolishing slavery. Unless compassion is taught to children at an early age, they will grow up with no sense of the evil involved in harming others -- slavery being the ultimate form of that.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had it right. Character matters. All else is irrelevant. A good-hearted Atheist won't harm you, but a devout believer in ANY religion or ideology that labels you as evil and/or inferior will, without hesitation.

God has planted love and beauty everywhere, including in us. We just have to open our own eyes, and teach our children to understand that.

Real freedom simply requires an absence of hate.

I'm only agreeing with you. Your way of saying it may be more persuasive.

Superb.

I wish I had a six to give you! This is one of the best essays I've ever read. It is powerful and poignant and so true. I've stopped listening to the news not because I no longer care, but because I was addicted and I became so depressed that I wanted to give up. I get the headlines. People are always eager to relay anything they think is important, but I don't immerse myself in it any longer. Still, everywhere I turn I find the soul crushing negativity. President bashing, racism, hatred and utter disdain for the truth. I spent three hours trying to write an essay on this topic but I'm not good at essays, so I gave it up. I'm grateful that you didn't. I'm printing this so I can read it again. Well done. Well said. Thank you.

Great post, Sally. But remember it is not just BLM and Antifa (which is not a clear organization) but it was white supremacist organizations who did equal damage in Portland. It's horrible that there is such hatred in our country. I remember that violence and protests during the 1960s and I wonder if the adults during that time wondered about the hatred at that time. Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you for the excellent review and insight. It is most appreciated. Sending you my best today and hope for the fulfillment of the words of Dr. King in the very near future. Especially that we all see the Glory of the Lord revealed together. His return is soon, I think.

I think hate comes from fear. We think people who are different from us are criminals, terrorists, etc. I have to admit that men with turbans and AK47's scare the daylights out of me. I know that most people from the middle east are not terrorists, and I refuse to give into hate. I think hate poisons the hater. Someone once told me that hating was like drinking poison and waiting for the other guy to die. I think there's some truth to that. Why are they running around with guns shooting anyone who doesn't think like them? Could it be fear?

Thank you for the insightful review and comment true story. Fear is easily at the center I suppose. People can fear what they hate, so much so that they'll kill it.

This is well researched, well thought through and well presented. It is the voice of reason. I like the ending with the words of Dr Martin Luther King Jr, and they are as powerful today as they have ever been. Renewal of any nation will begin with people turning back to God and allowing Him to change them from within, as you yourself have experienced. Fighting for external freedoms will never be the answer. "If my people will hear my voice ... humble themselves ... and pray ..." Nowhere does it say that His people are to put down others who don't share the same beliefs, or hammer them into submission ... His love and national repentance are the only answer. Best wishes for your wonderful entry!

So many people who call themselves citizens of America or Patriots have trampled on Old Glory and all that it stands for... especially the freedom for all. Those same people have trampled on the teachings of God... the creator of all things. It's spiraling downward and can only come to destruction for all. I pray I find myself at the feet of our Lord and he lifts me up from all this evil and sadness.

Smiles, Carol

We sure know how to ruin things here in America. I find the riots and stuff useless. It doesn't do anything and the business you just burnt down had nothing to do with what you're trying to protect or stand for. Is there an issue? Yes. Are there other ways to make a point? Yes. I think a lot of people hate the God stuff because of people who use God to get what they want. They want to play God. They want to dictate who to love and if you can have an abortion or not. In the end, it's between me and God with how I live my life. Those decisions won't change because God will hate us if we do these. God isn't the issue. The issue is others who bring this into these topics. It leaves a bad taste. It doesn't make people want to get to know God. It doesn't leave people wanting to find out more about who He was or what He did. Anyways, that's my thoughts. We have a long ways to go.

The trouble is freedom is an illusion Sally. Freedom is always internally processed, never externally, and everybody's perception is different. America has always thought of herself as the "freest" of countries, but the truth is, that's pride, and very insular, most countries are the same in that perception. Just remember America derives its culture from elsewhere, and generally of an inherent British background which appears to be the benchmark. I guess the biggest problem is the huge divisions there. Most countries had banished slavery long before America, without a civil war to do it. I see getting back to God is the solution, always in fact. Instead of fretting, pray. Don't worry we have similar problems, but nowhere near the division. I will pray too. Your true country is Heaven, you are a stranger on Earth. As Abraham was, so are we. Strangers in a strange land, nationalism's the enemy of freedom. Well done, blessings, Roy

Sally Law I can see all the research you did is excellent, what impressed --- is when you wrote--

In your personal observations, hate doesn't come from a specific color, or country, it comes from a depraved sinful heart. It can affect anyone, and causes us to mount the horses of judgmentalism, bias, bigotry, anti-Semitism, violence, destruction, human subjugation, and racism. Once murder occurs in our hearts, it's not long before the manifestation.
Gert
