Hi Elizabeth, this is a fun story which fortunately had a happy ending. It's fun and told at a great pace. I loved it. Very well written, and it's so very well thought out. I enjoyed it. Ulla:)))

Hi Liz,
Another fabulous story. I'm glad for Chuckie, but poor Kevin Mahoney. Summer boating can be fun, but not without danger. One of the younger men who worked at my brewery some years back fell overboard one night and drowned. He had been drinking, but wouldn't have been able to see the shoreline anyway. It would have been a tiring swim to reach a beach.
I got mixed up a bit with Kevin Mahoney, Kevin Landlord, and Kevin Doherty. Too many Kevins! But I'm wondering if you meant "Kevin's landlord" instead of "Kevin Landlord"?

Hugs,
Kimbob

KEVIN "LANDLORD" is intended as a place-holder pending the revelation of his surname.

This guy--is his name Baloney?--could be me. I forget faster than I ever knew them--or did I ever know them? The last line is the best line of all. It is only human nature to place our own welfare above the lives of others. The meaning and significance of ONLY deserves a library of exploration. I enjoyed this story!! Jeff

Thankssssss! You are one of few who clued into my ironic intent. Chuck's self-centered concern is the underlying theme of the piece; the narrative is window-dressing to make my point. Nice to see you! Cheers. LIZ

I will focus more on looking for subtle subtexts in your writing in the future. Many of my reviewers miss even obvious information in my stories. For example, some readers thought I was the owner of the chimp or the owner of the Pinto "Murder and Revenge." Even people I know to be excellent writers will do this sort of thing. Jeff

Most of my work can be taken at face value; I am metaphorically challenged and hopelessly literal-minded. Exceptions: When I make reference to religion, you can be sure I have ironic intent. And I love to play with language and spoof myself by means of a ramble rife with "superfluous redundancies." As you say, some good writers don't read carefully. I continue to be astounded by a few of our finest who are satirically retarded; they politely corrected several of the hundreds of intentional errors in my monstrous parody runonononononononon sentence, notwithstanding the hints in the title/subtitle, the giveaway in the punchline, and full confession in the notes.

Ha ha ha, thank goodness Chuck is safe, but poor Mahoney died too young! Life is unlucky for some and Chuck should have a better filing system, or memory! You made me smile here Elizabeth, love Dolly x

I immediately felt the anxiety and panic in this situation. Your writing had a nice fast pace in the story; which I prefer in suspense. I'm not a fan of a story that I have to slosh through and seems to never get to the end. Your story was not that kind and I appreciate it. It was suspenseful and entertaining. Nice read.

This is FanStory fantastic! This is the same friend you have showcased in several of your stories. He needs a better filing system, but surely has a friend upstairs. A fun frolicking bit of Chuck.

Sending you my best today as always,
Sal XOs

Clever writing as always. Chuck must be so relieved and will hopefully get his agreements signed from here on in! It is, of course, too bad for the poor dead guy.

Sounds like Chuck needs a secretary to help him keep his files in order. In the scheme of things, it might be nice if landlords made an effort to keep in touch with their tenants. Had he seen him a few times, Chuck could have remembered. At last things turned out well for Chuck. It wasn't his landlord who died. Bad luck for the sailboater. judi

We never know how God will answer our prayers, but we can expect that His plan will have the answer. But you must know He answers only easy questions. Just like we used to choose answers during exam time. Easy ones first. Answering Chuck's prayers must have been a piece of cake for Him. I enjoyed the story. Cheers!

Whew! I like how you give us that rhetorical question, "Why does this have to happen to him! " He certainly gets into as many scrapes as does Scott. I hope tenants continue to be able to pay their rent as so many are being evicted these days.
