Amada,

This is a heartbreaking sonnet you have composed. I'm so sorry for the loss of your grandson...at such a young age. I give you lots of credit
for learning this challenging form. I am definitely not the one to
judge your form...It flowed well when I read it and touched my heart.

This stanza stood out to me as well as the part of you hearing the rumble of his footsteps on your stairway:

"One night in March, wheels crashed on cruel cement.
Bless be all those who meet their Lord and face
to face converse with Him, their light unspent.
Young Prince, your life was brief, a touch of grace."

This is a beautiful sonnet you have written for Anthony.

All six stars for this one, and congrats on a beautiful piece. I write sonnets, too, and understand how difficult they are, getting the iambic pentameter and the rhymes all just so. You've done that here, and I think the only advice I'd offer would be to add a comma up in that third line: (When young,)

Really beautiful, and my heart goes out to you and your grandson's parents/siblings and other family/friends for having lost him so young. You've honored him with your grace and careful placement of words.

You've certainly captured the essence of the sonnet, although traditionally a male/female tragic domain, you've still a different form of tragedy, beautifully written, an excellent effort. I think Jim has debunked the idea of the defined sonnet, and so do I, poetry is language always, and this is lovely language. Well done, blessings Roy

Your sonnet is very touching and a wonderful tribute and I am so sorry for your loss. Your words here are from the heart, well metered and I enjoyed those feminine ending in your final stanza too, a very unusual touch. If this is your very first sonnet, then I am very impressed with its magnificence. Love Dolly x

Amada,
First, sorry for your loss. A sonnet is a good way to honor his short live. I like the nature metaphors for his personality and that you. You did a good job on this first sonnet.
Keep writing and stay healthy

First, my condolences on the loss of your grandson. I lost a sixteen year old son to a car wreck in 1998 and a 39 year old son to brain cancer in 2016. I found your sonnet for Anthony most touching. I hope your writing continues to help you through your grief.

Your Sonnet about your grandson, Anthony, is heartfelt. How sad to lose him. The imagery you create while describing how he is still with you is very poignant and mirrors much of what I experience in reveries of those I loved and lost.

I would say "wonderful" sonnet, but I have a broken heart. So sorry for your loss, but what a heartfelt tribute. I am writing more sonnets now and, while I do not please the world, I am appreciating the style.
