I love it. For a very first sonnet, it's amazing. You may not think you have the rhyming gift, but you certainly do. I'm sure Anthony is sharing it with the rest of the angels, pointing to the couplet at the end with pride. I, too, love sonnets and have written many. You'll find that the meter and rhyme become perfectly natural after a few attempts at the form.
P.S. My nephew is another Anthony. I wonder how he'd feel if I wrote a poem for him.

You got the rhyme scheme down, the meter was pretty close; there were a couple of awkward breaks like this face to face break in stanza two, but what really came through were these poignant images, the image of the young man walking up the stairs of your house, the robin flying like the upraised arms of the little boy, the image of the car wreck. It really brings the memories to life, and we feel your pain as you look to heaven for the hope of seeing him again. I thought the robin image was a real powerful opening that drew us into the poem and then you had a strong ending too. estory

A lovely sonnet which must have been so hard to write given the subject. The emotion was apparent and the rhymes flowed in a natural fashion without seeming to be forced. Very touching.
