That is quite a surprise ending, the best so far:"Priscilla interrupted, "I'm confused. Was Jackson undercover, too?"

"Actually, he was the South Side Crew's leader."

"Not my son!" Priscilla screamed, "Where is he? He'll tell you."

Detective Austin shook his head, "Sorry, Priscilla, Jackson didn't make it."

Priscilla collapsed. She needed a shoulder to lean on." Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

An excellent story with a very clever twist. You built up to it very well, with clear writing, authentic dialogue and realistic characters. Best wishes for the contest.

that's a good one! Realistic dialogue and jargon.
Looks like you've got this one nailed.
You went from casual greetings to adversarial arguments, bringing in fear, tension mounts, BOOM - the accuser loses.
Good job.

You certainly brought a twist to your tale here and I enjoyed your delivery and the irony of this situation, and maybe Priscilla should have been checking in her own backyard rather than poking her nose into other people's business, a fine write, love Dolly x

This is well-written and tells a good story. Your characters are well rounded and believable and, unfortunately, the bad guy's mom would never believe it was her son. Great work.

Hmm, interesting. I was a little confused by the part where Priscilla entered the car and the reason she stated for doing so, since Bobby had said the detective asked for both women. Why a detective would send a child was also strange but the story moved along fine. And the point or theme was clear to the readers.

well done.

Interesting story. I like the twist.
Here a woman was willing to gossip about another's son and was blind to her own son's drug use.
Well done
I enjoyed the read.

We never truly know what side anyone is on, and just keep our distance and mind our own business ain't always the answer. Thanks for sharing your fine story. Wish I had a six.

Smug mothers and secretive sons are to the fore in this tale of the harsh realities of life in backrooms and on the streets with gangs and drugs. Told with gripping drama.

It is said that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing, author. It is the same with our children. Do we really know what an individual does while away from the house? That gossip-mouth Priscilla got a taste of reality. This is a good entry for the Surprise Me Contest. Thank you for sharing.
