That is so sad. I do hope your son-in-law grows up and starts treating your daughter with the respect and love she deserves. I'm sure you have said this prayer to God many times. I add a prayer hoping He will help. Well done, this is a sad, but wonderful message to God. Good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

This is a hopeful prayer. The writer does not want things forhim/her self, but for a loved one. Admirable! The notes put the letter into context, which is necessary, although I don't understand why these words couldn't have been placed in the actual letter.

Thank you for your review and kind words. To be honest, I did not even consider putting my notes in my letter. I figured that Jesus already knew what I was talking about and I was writing to Him. that was a mistake. I forgot that Jesus was not my only audience for this prayer. Thank you again.

I like how you use metaphors to communicate the pain you are noticing in your daughter and in yourself as you feel so helpless. Power and powerlessness is the crux of the problem. I may have told you this before. I was an advocate for victims for 30+ years. It must break your heart to be able to nothing except prayer. Sometimes the prayer is for our own sanity and strength. Thank you for your compassionate words and for reading my prayer. I think it is harder to be a parent once your children become adults. Thank you for the website resource also. I am going to check it out later today.

This write is beautiful in your expressions of love and concern for your daughter. I have a 19 year old granddaughter so I know the absolute love in your heart for her.

What a wonderful tribute to your daughter and her strength, and your faith. This is a well-written piece from an aching heart, and I pray that your prayer will be answered in that she is kept safe and strong. Blessings.

What a poetic prayer! I love that you compare your daughter to an evergreen tree which knows how to adapt to the environment and still thrive. What a wise mom you are to know you can trust God for your daughter's decisions.
Best wishes in the contest!

This is heartfelt, heart-wrenching and well written.
"She is an example of life that breaks through the darkness, strong and stubborn, wise and moral and good."
I enjoyed reading this piece and wish you luck in the contest.

I can identify with this prayer as my daughter has exactly the same qualities that you mention but does not realize it. I wish you lots of luck in the competition. Best wishes. Jen.

Thank you, Jen, for reading my work. Wouldn't it be great if our children knew how wonderful they were?

Such a beautiful lyrical poem of your daughter and the aspiration to be like the evergreen: "Like the Evergreen, You also created her
To thrive in the harshest of environments, bending without breaking in the most wicked of wins... Maturing in the most terrible of temperatures.." Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.
