Very descriptive chapter. I could picture the action as I read it. Very nice job. Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas. Keep'em coming. Stay safe and stay healthy.

Bill,

This story is fascinating. It has a spotty progression and I only catch about every other scene. How did the TWO guys fall from the helio? What happened to the aircraft?

I am so confused. I am sad that this man lost his you-know-whats. That is a sad thing.

Thanks !

Since I decided to re-use a character from a previous story, Tim Bends, I went back to where he was introduced in the book BAKER'S DOZEN. I edited that scene into this dream sequence to show the readers that Piglette really is Bends.

Yah. But you still didn't answer my other qs...

In BAKER'S DOZEN, the President apparently dispatches his enemies by having his COS CC Connor haul them out to a training area and have them fight each other to the death. Taken in pairs, naked, they are pushed out of a helicopter.

But it sounded like they were the only ones ON the helio. So what happened to it?

    PORTFOLIO : BOOKS : BAKER'S DOZEN : Chapter 1: Angles and Bends

--> On board were the PILOT, seated in the right seat in front, AND the UNDER SECRETARY of Cabinet Affairs, Rusty Pipes. In the center of the vehicle were Tyler Angles and Tim Bends.
--> that's FOUR people including the pilot.

    --> this story:
The helicopter takes off from the rural D.C. airport without authorization or a flight plan. On board are Tyler Angles and Tim Bends.
--> that's TWO people. Period. No pilot, no observers. The helio is gonna crash when these two jump out.

OMS. Evidently - this is so clear to each of us we can't see the other side. *smile* You see now why my hubby alls me 'Missouri'.

This may be a rewrite or addition to that previous story, but if your readers are like me - egads - then would they know if there were any more on that helio? I won't say anything else after this.

The text in the dream sequence does say they were pushed out. Nothing suggests that they were alone.
I would just tell everyone to read Baker's Dozen, then start on Assassin Nation, stop in at A murder a Month, and then head back to Assassin Nation. Easy Peasy.

hahahaha Got it. I'll shut up. You are welcome to also call me Missouri when needed.

Dear Bill, I find it intriguing, that you have posted a picture of the actor who paid played Lex Luther in the superman series called Smallville, dating back to the 1980s ( Or was it the 1970s ?) Is this your image of C.C. Connor?
Please help me out here, because I am drowning in reincarnated Bad Guys!

I actually had an image earlier but failed to keep the location. This guy fills the bill though a bit younger looking.

Bill,
I'm so glad I happened upon the beginning of this story. A person can tell you must've had military survival training to write such a detailed story. Your prose is really good, Bill. And, it is suspenseful.
Good work, Bill.
Good luck in the contest.
I hope you have a really Merry Christmas.
Cindy

I read this chapter mesmerized and feeling the pain of Bends fall. Your writing cuts to the chase and that makes it powerful. Well written!

Piglette is in a quandary, should he stay or go. Can he even make the decision on his own. If he leaves what is to become of him? If he stays, what will happen to him, can he defend himself from attack? As I stated, he is in a box, with no clear avenues of escape. Right now, his life sucks, big time.

All the characters in the stories are suspect and lean towards the dark side.

You describe these injuries so well, I'm cringing. This is painful to read. Piglette does seem to know who he is. The name bend is unfaniliar. I guess they pick someone and program them to become an assassin and make they forget their past.

In the flashback, why did Tim Bends kill the Mr. Angels who was not in the character list and then jump the plane and almost killed himself.

Well done

This flashback is actually a scene from two books ago that introduced Tim Bends, so it would not automatically connect.

If he really is Bends, how did he survive being shredded so terribly? And where is Baker since that time? I would think if Piglette is Bends, he would not go willingly.

You are so resistant, Helen. : ) I will try to make all of this as believable as I can.
