What a lovely photo of mother and child
I can see the love and compassion in both of their eyes.
How blessed to have them in your live,
you express your love for him in your poem.

What a stunning word picture you have created of the boy. It captures the quick mind of a child, perpetually dancing from one delightful experience to another. Both the butterfly and the dragonfly make excellent metaphors for this.

Hi Roy,

Lucky you having a lovely grandson to spoil, I've not been blessed with any as yet. Nice poem, and a lovely tribute to your grandson.

If one learned the secret of harnessing the energy of the young, they have a ready market among the middle age and older. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a good read.

Lovely.
You surely are blessed with a family you adore. They inspire poetry this lovely, that you must feel greatly rewarded for your love.
I love the free spirit imagery this purveys, just as young children so often bring to our lives, reminding us of innocent joy.
a flitting vapour floating by,
or dragonflies that zip then zap,
like meerkat heads that never nap...beautiful.
It's funny that I just visited Monarto yesterday and watched the same meerkat sitting at the highest point watching, watching while the others played like children.
I hope your daughter enjoys this.
Your final couplet is stunning:
His spirit pure as an angel's sigh,
or the soul-like pleas of a baby's cry.

That is so lovely, Roy, to compare your grandson to a butterfly is perfect. I can relate to that with mine. The photos of your daughter and grandson together, is such a delight, the love bond between them is so obvious. Good luck in the contest, my friend, you have a wonderful family. xsx Sandra

In my opinion, a lovely tribute to family, especially a grandchild - the work is sensitive and tender - well constructed in rhyme, meter and flow- the picture of daughter and son complement the poem perfectly - a treasure...

Beautiful tribute to your grandson and his tender nature. I like the comparison of him to a butterfly or a dragonfly. Very creatively written.

Hi Roy,

Another well written and interesting poem that is worthy of a six star rating. You daughter and grandson are both very nice looking. I'm going to have to write another poem pretty soon about my great, great, grandson who just turned three.

Thanks for sharing this work of art, Kat
