Been there, coming back a bit from it now, but still, that's more where I live. Feeling's such a bitch most of the time, but without it you miss those golden moments, too. Here's to cracking that shell, poet! Good write. :)

Yes, there were times when I didn't want to feel. As they say, 'be careful what you wish for'. A numbness to feeling is not what we want or need. The biggest compliment of all is to hear you call me a poet. With warmest regards, Sue

Sue, I think this is one of your best of your best. That last stanza is hard hitting and would resonate with me for a while.

How many people would make such a request? Well, it goes back to the popular saying: "It's better to have love and loss, than to never have loved at all."

Great job, Sue.

Poetic Friend, "best of my best" is an awesome compliment! The words just came out as I "felt" this very deeply. Thank you so much for your great review. Thank you for saying it resonated with you. With warm regards, Sue

Growing cold from loneliness - THis is the second poem dealing with loneilness I have read today- I wrote something after reading it but instead of calling it loneliness I titled it missing you-
I love your grace and meter the flow was magical and tight structure and sentiments that soared!-

the haunting phrases like this...

Soften up this calloused soul
Before it turns to steel -WOW what a poet!
Write on-Diny

Sue, Another most philosophical piece - to prefer feeling sorrow or a broken heart or pain over feeling nothing at all - that is one provocative thought - strong rhyming quatrains with a high-impact message. Brooke

I don't know - my son got his college degree in philosophy and even he isn't as philosophical as you've been lately LOL

I like this piece even when it could mean different things to many persons. I thinks of it as a declaration of war with your innerself, trying to get away from the cocoon. r

Wow Sue, this is fantastic. To me, it was saying that life was insde a cocoon and the heart is yearning for someone to break the cocoon, even if it causes pain, so life will be free again. I don't know if that is what you were trying to say but that is what it said to me. Excellent writing. :)

This is truly awesome writing friend.
Longing to feel alive by feeling the
pain of a broken heart, how sad is that? This is emotional
heartache of the worst kind. Awesome writing!
You alright friend?
