Hi. Sue.
This is a sad yet sensibly resigned goodbye to a loved Ryan. Very easy to read with nice rhymes and flow. I'm not a lover of repetition but it adds to the drama and the atmosphere here. Excellent. Best wishes, Ray xx

This is a great contest entry for a Quatrain. I liked the sentiment and the emotion of it. I wish your son the best of everything, and a very safe return.

great quatrain poem. seems like you all had a great time while he was here and that is what counts. my daughter in law left friday for Cuba. she is in the service. seems like the joy of the holdiay has to end too quick. good luck in the contest.

Hi Sixteezkid
I know what you mean, it is so hard when my kids leave to go back to Texas or we go there and have to leave and come back to Georgia. Excellent work on your poem though and keep writing the nice work.
Well done.
God bless
love from
Carolyn

What a lovely poem, well written, filled with those emotions and the sadness that comes when one has to leave.
A tribute to your son, so universal, such fun words inside the lines.
Well done.
I can see you will miss him very much.

My heart was right there with you. It is always difficult to see a loved one off to distant places. How special though that you could share your special time together. You have captured loving sentiments so well here. The rhyme works well in this quatrain format. Well done. LdyMary

Hello Sixteezkid,
This is a beautiful poem of love and loss.
The poem reads and flows well and I particularly liked the last line as I feel it is the essence of this poem:
Sounds of memories are in play
(Our memories will get us through).
I just saw the new movie called, Australlia, with Nicole Kidman. I hope you get to see it too. If you do, you'll know what this means ...
I'm sure you and your son will ....
"sing you to me"
You may be apart but will forevermore be in each other's heart.
Regards, LateBloomer

Interesting rhyme scheme, well done. My boy only travels a few hundred miles to his home away, but I know the feeling of the parting. Always good to have them come home for a visit. I thought the Australian and Illinois connection brought interest also, something for the reader to ponder a moment, teasing the mind as to what it may be.
Good work,
Lois

Sweet poem about a son. Nice flowing style, good rhyming scheme and description. Thoughtful and full of emotion, but not mushy or over done. Great job.
