Why didn't you post the beautiful description of your handsome grandchild tomorrow, Roy, so I could plant a shiny six on it? The pure wonder, joy, and tender-heart found in young children, does resemble the face of angels.

Our precious children and grandchildren are like magic in our eyes, and this is the time to absorb the sweetness of their nature before they grow up. Excellent imagery and rhyming. Just a thought, Roy, hope you don't mind. You had eight syllables per line consistently in the first verse, then it seemed to jump to nine syllables in two lines of verse 2 (jewels is 2 syllables) and in the last verse. Nice picture of your family, good luck in the contest. Faye

I love this sweet poem about your grandchild, Roy!

You've used lovely imagery throughout, especially in your first stanza:

"My grandchild's like a butterfly,
a flitting vapour floating by,
or dragonflies that zip then zap,
like meerkat heads that never nap"

Your couplets are perfectly rhymed, and your words have a great flow.

This is a strong entry for the contest. Best of luck, my friend! Alana

Hi Roy, your love for your wonderful Grandson really shines through in this brilliant entry for this Butterfly competition, wonderful rhyming and a fantastic flow that should surely warrant a top three place, good luck my friend.

Beautiful daughter and grandson. Beautiful poem as a tribute to your angel's sigh. And they are. I loved my child, but my grandchildren really brought out the best in me. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Royowen,

Well, I've never heard a child being compared to a butterfly, but perhaps he or she has light, delicate movements. Nicely written.

Hugs,
Lou

Wonderful. Firstly, what a beautiful moment captured in your photo. I loved the reference to a meerkat. Little boys have so much energy. Lovely imagery in the second stanza and a nice ending also. good luck in the contest. Fiona
