Your family will be glad you did this. I've been doing the same thing with the gift of Storyworth my grandson gave me. Once you get to thinking how to start, it just flows after than. You can do it.

Thank you for the encouragement.

You're welcome. Will you post your stories here?
-
I'm pretty sure I will. One reviewer suggested I didn't.

Pay no attention to naysayers. They will suck the life out of you. If I get just one grumpy reviewer, I ignore it. But if I got a lot, I'd pay attention.

Barbara,
You've found a very creative way to preserve memories. I might try to do that too. I have several nieces and greats- who might enjoy my making a record of family memories.
Good luck with this wonderful project.
Good luck!
Blessings,
Cindy

I have found that young people like to hear the raw honest truth about you. Flaws and warts and embarrassing moments along with the good things. Or they like to hear about some forgotten interaction with them. Just pretend they asked you a question and go from there. Gretchen

What a good idea! I've never seen anything like this before, but I suppose we could all do it and put it in a tin or something. I'll be very interested to read them. I look forward to number one! :) Sandra xx

Thank you for the encouragement. For my parents 60th wedding anniversary we all put small slips of paper in a box with family memories. We are still adding to it.

What a terrific idea for a birthday gift. A gift to you, and eventually back to them, through your granddaughters. I have no doubt you will discover you have much to write about. Even things and events that seem ordinary to us, may very well seem extraordinary to them in future years. Have fun.

This is an interesting concept. Sort of like a personal video to a child people leave when they think they won't be around. So the child will know who they were. Real question: Are you sure you want something personal between you and your grandchild made public, and before they see it?

Hadn't thought of that. I will think about it. As of right now, I really am not sure what these letters will consist of. I'm only scribbled a few notes down for the first one. Hmm, something to think about. Thank you for the kind review.

I think this is great. It is good to feel the warmth of a grandmother's love written in her own hand. No doubt the children will cherish the moment. Go for it.

You will decide on what to write. You will know it when
it hits you. You did a great job explaining your gift and
your thoughts and feelings about the project. Whatever
you write, I'm sure it will be valuable to your grans later
after they are at an age to understand and appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Stop doubting yourself. The reason you have return readers is because you are a wonderfully gifted writer with something of value to say. While it is true that modesty is a virtue, undervaluing yourself is not healthy either. Please believe me, you are worthy.

Thank you. I am hoping I can come with 12 interesting stories about our family and myself that these girls would find interesting to read. The first one is to be about something interesting about our family. I plan on writing about Andrew being raised as a military brat. I hope that's interesting.

Good luck, I have shared so much of my life with my kids and grand kids that they can recite practically word for word whatever story I might relate. LOL.
-
I bet the stories are wonderful. I know I loved listening to my grandparents tell their stories. Not so much my parents until I got old enough to realize their wisdom. LOL
-
The older we get, the smarter our parents seem to be. LOL.
