Thank you, Eric, for your review and condolences. I was both close and far away from the tragedy. I am glad I visited the memorial outside of the ruins. Thank you for kind thoughts about my "beautiful eulogy."

Yes, Debbie, it is hard for me to look at Christmas decorations without realizing that thirty-six people will not be spending the holidays with their loved ones. Thank you for your review of "a well written poem" about a "tragic story."

I am so sorry your are personally very familiar with the Ghost Ship Warehouse. I did not know that Oakland once had the world's largest coastal forest. Thank you for sharing your poignant poem reflecting the loss to the area and mourning the lost lives. Your "Kharon" and "treasures" metaphors are very effective, along with the "bazaar" simile. Thank you, Bob, for your review and condolences. This has been a grave loss to the Bay Area, We are in a constant state of mourning as funerals, memorials, fundraisers, and tributes begin. Some of the trapped people texted "I'm going to die now." This is heartbreaking. Thank you for your review and condolences.

No, Bob, they know approximately where it started but not how. They ruled out arson. They are focusing now on how the warehouse was wired. The artists who lived in it stole electricity from power lines and had extension cords and power strips snaking all through the warehouse. Because they lacked hot water, they used propane tanks to heat water for bathing with a water hose. Based upon what I read, the warehouse was an accident waiting to happen. The conditions inside were dangerously unsafe.

Your words pay tribute to those artists who lost their lives in the fire. There is an eery feel to "whose skull figurehead screams". This line shows the horror of the tragedy and how they felt perishing in the fire. Excellent poem that reminds us that these artists live on in their works.

Yes, Mermaids, the artists who lived in the Ghost Ship warehouse had painted on the outside wall near a window a mural of a screaming skull. When the warehouse caught fire, the windows broke and fire and smoke billowed out of it, making the skull mural appear to scream and smoke. It was an eerie sight not to be forgotten. Thank you for your review of my tribute.

This is a good ode to the victims of the fire and could be used for deaths in any natural or terrorist attacks. I like the uses of mythology as a hope to get these victims back. We do that by never forgetting.

Yes, Dip, while some people or forgetting the tragedy and moving on with their lives, I find it important to remember the victims. I will perform my ode at open mics and poetry slams in Oakland this week. Thank you for your review and condolences.
