Good down-to-earth story. I was thinking about when we bought our first home. $17,000 good old GI Loan. This is a very wholesome story that is well written. Thank you for sharing. Good one, beth

American pie, indeed. You have written skillfully about the start of your family life. You were not the first to let the TV keep you from noticing an emergency in the laundry room. What did you name the puppy? The baby? Well done.

Thank you so much for reviewing this. I appreciate your comments. The puppy was named Dusty because he was a strange shade of gray for a dog. The baby's name will be told in the nest part of this story. Maybe you'll keep reading.

I like this one too, the routine of married life, the excitement of having a new home, decorating them, with the new baby to come, owning new dogs, the comfort of each others arms, the joy and assurance of a life ahead together, is something to look forward to. Nice. God bless.

I enjoyed reading the story, Beth. Sounds like it was really hard to come up with a name for your baby. Apparently it wasn't so hard to think of a name for your puppy, Dusty.

I didn't see anything to bring to your attention. Well done.

Thank you April, I appreciate the reading and your comments.
The dog was easy. I'd never seen one that strange shade of gray before. He reminded me of dust.

It's interesting to read how people tried to be economical. Newly weds today spend a fortune on furniture, etc. I assume you didn't have to pay for the window since the house would be torn. Talk about good timing! We paid ten thousand for our first house back in 1967. Ah, those were the days!
Funny transition about naming a baby to getting a dog.
Another enjoyable read with a good cliffhanger at the end.

Actually we did have to pay $40 dollars to them to get the window fixed. I see no reason why they would have used it for that. It probably went into to someone pocket. We were brought up my parents who'd gone through the great depression so we were taught to be thrifty. No so with my children. I'm so glad you're enjoying this.

I enjoyed your story about getting married, moving to a new house and used furniture, being pregnant and being given a new puppy. You were a very busy newlywed.

How utterly atmospheric and enthralling. Newly weds tasting the early joys of married bliss in the days when it was more about sincerity and practicality than 'keeping up with the Joneses' as it is today.

Isn't that just the way it is? First the house, then the kids, next comes a dog. What an American dream this it. LOL enjoyed to the fullest.
