This poem is so very sad. To think that all of those caring nurses and doctors would be shot down when clearly marked with a cross, doesn't make any sense. It was just sheer heartlessness. And then you say in your notes that he only was punished with a four year jail sentence. No justice in that at all.
Your poem had very nice tempo and good rhyme. Thank you for sharing it.

I remember reading about this. Horrible. The Japanese were taught to ignore the Red Cross as they figured that by eliminating the medics it would cause more deaths among the enemy. Logical but cruel and illegal. Your poem tells the tale well. Good job!
