Cute story and beautiful picture to match. So true, mothers always seem to know what their kids are up to. And in this case, with much relief I'm sure....kathleen

Ivan's a lucky boy. His rescue comes just as his adventure is about to become scary. Well written from the point of view of a young child. :) Nancy

I enjoyed this story even though I haven't been a child for quite some time. My favorite sentences "Deep snow comes up to the monster on my lunch pail. Icicles drip from bare, skinny branches and look like sliver knives pointing down at me" bring such vivid imagery to mind. Thanks for sharing!

Cute story, not too spooky for a child and yet one that will keep their attention while hearing it read to them. Thanks for the nice read.

I remember a story different, but in some respects the same. I love how you can create a story that I'm sure excites a child to read it, but at the same time I love the great imagery and simplicity. I think it takes a special talent to reach all ages. You are someone who can do this. Blessings Marie.

I happened on this story last week, did some rewriting and posted it, totally forgetting it's been on FS before, many months ago. I'm embarassed! But, I sure do appreciate your comments and the time you gave it for review, Stan. Many thanks. Marie

Phew ... luckily mom (always) knows what her kids are up to. The bus driver should be more alert in this case. Nobody gets down before his/her own stop. This is a well written children story with a message.

Thought this was going to end badly for Ivan but it didn't and in the nicest way possible. I liked the ending and what came before it. Writing was good and quite appropriate for children and their parents.
Now, if had written this? Mom would've been a werewolf and cheeky Ivan would've been dinner. But that's me - cheerful to the end. Glad I didn't write this then, eh?
