This reflects so well the ups and downs of loving. How joy and pain can go hand in hand. Still worth it for then by feeling we at least know we are alive. Love the presentation. I can assume it might be your art? VEry appropriate for the words written. As always, perfect flow and rhyme. Very well done, Sue. JOyce

Joyce, you got it. Feeling (of any kind) at least makes us know we are alive. Numbness is a terrible place to be. Not my art (which it was!). Thanks so much for your great compliments and review. Always appreciated, Sue

There is a lot of feeling in this a strong piece that reads very well through the verses you have done well in expressing your thoughts regards Fuller

Nice use of contrasts. I know there are people who require that they either are hurt or pleased, and don't want anything in between. Excellent images and message. A lot of fun to read. Ray.

Ah how we yearn when we are lost just to feel; not caring what or why or how, or if it hurts horribly. Life needs sensory feedback. You've expressed you subject beautifully, and with passion.

Mike, you've nailed it. "Sensory feedback". You sure did 'get' this one. Thanks so much for your great review and awesome comments. With regards, Sue

Hi Sixteez,
This is gut wrenching. I suppose that is what poems are supposed to do. You portrayed the feeling of numbness longng for that deeper sense of emotion.
Color me with laughter's song
Enlighten me by prose
Stain it all in shades of gray
Contrasting highs and lows
[beautiful!]

Ellie, Yes, being numb is a limbo where we'd rather either cry or laugh to feel. Thanks so much for highlighting the stanza you liked. And for your lovely review and compliments. With regards, Sue

I liked the whole poem, except for the second line in the second stanza, which feels like it's there only to hold the rhyme. Yet, I liked the metaphor of a lonely heart, waiting for rebirth through love.

Well, I don't normally defend my work, but I have to say you missed the entire poem if you felt that way about that 2nd line. It's what the whole poem is about. It's the epicenter.

Geez, Sixties! This is awesome. I think it's one o fthe best I've read in a long while. I've been doing a lot of reviews and although many posts are good, few deserve a six. This one does!

I have to say thank you, again. Your reviews always mean a lot to me. I know from all your other reviews how closely you do read and I respect that immensely.

I especially love the first line of this poem. It lays out the meaning of the entire verse. What an insightful way of viewing loneliness. Only one who has felt these emotions could put such longing into words. Beautiful and passionate writing.
