hey sue. this is wonderful and i am sure so many
can relate to it incluidng myself thankfully not
too often but from time to time. i have never
had major depression, but the blues, but my ex
suffered from bi-polar and jeez it was scary to
watch. i could see it descending upon him, his eyes
would die...your words brought it back to me.
when it begins there is nothing anybody can do ab out
it either except wait for it to leave.
hope your visitor doesnt stay too long. hugs lynda.

This was very well written and had a great flow to it. I have to have a dictionary out sometimes when I read your poems, but I like that. I get to read a great poem and lean a new word. Well done- Sam

Sam, the great thing about writing, is I love getting use of the dictionary to learn new words myself. Thank you for your very generous review and compliments. Always appreciated, Sue

I hear you Sue, and I wish I could conjure up some blinding light and send it your way and disperse the darkness, I really do! It's a great poem Friend, I just wish it was not emotionally charged as far as you go.
I wish you well!

It all is so familiar. "I foresee darkness lurking low" is actually a precise way of describing the feeling. I hope this is not you, but if so, feel better soon.

Hi Sue....I know how devastating depression can be. There is no use in telling the victim to snap out of it as they would if they could. If you suffer from depression then my heart goes out to you. I may have told you I only suffered with depression once in my life and it manifested itself in physical symptoms. I thought they had invented a new disease and I had it. This is a very good poem...sad and soulful. Blessings....chey

Chey, so happy to hear you say that it only hit you once. Yes, it does manifest itself physically, also. Thank you for your very kind review and comments. With regards, Sue

Because I spent years married to and divorced from a man who suffered depression, I know exactly what you mean - it is not situational - I always thought that as soon as we moved far away from his crazy mother and her awful influence and as soon as he could study what he wanted in grad school and as soon as he knew how much I loved him, etc, etc, things would just get better. But when someone is in the clutches of depression, life can be peachy keen and spring can be blooming all around, and the depression does not go away. You capture that so well in this poem. I'm smiling at you, friend. Brooke

Yeah, "when" we do this or "when" this changes....a common reaction with hope. Thanks for sharing your own story on this subject. And for your very kind review. Thanks for your *smiles*, Brooke. Hey, just wanted to say that even though I haven't been writing many reviews, I have been reading. Once again, your work just continues to grow. Happy for you. :-)) Sue

Sad to say, I have had moments just like this. Depression is an ugly monster. You have portrayed it well. It's always good to know that at least one other person out there gets it. Thanks for sharing this with us.

This poem describes depression eloquently - I could really relate to it. It flows smoothly, and the rhymes are unforced. I particularly like the line: "Corroding and maligned" - very evocative. :)

Great talent, here. Beautiful poem. Dramatic, stark, clear images. Terrific rhyme and rhythm. Wish your talent didn't come with such a high price tag for you. Lovely, in any case.

This is a nicely written poem. The lines are heavy with meaning and the words are properly arranged to appeal to the eyes, the mind and the heart. kudos
