This is a wonderful poem from a mother about the baby that she gave birth to. It warms my heart to know that there are still mothers out there who love their children in that way. Sadly, there are some who don't have a good day and may God bless you and your child. Patricia.

Lace is often associated with tradition, and beauty, and love. Your heartfelt words capture that and so much more. Nothing is stronger than a mother's love. I like how you ended your poem with the term " laced with love."

This is so beautiful! I loved the way you wove this motif through your piece and interpreted it in different ways, showing us different snapshots of lace in different forms and to evoke different loving moments. I particularly liked the final reference. Lovely work!

This is a lovely free verse poem dedicated to your daughter, Jess. Unlike many free verse poems, I applaud you for putting meter into yours. It reads almost like a rhyming poem and was just beautiful to read. Well done! - Jim

This is a beautiful evocation of new birth and childhood, using as a theme the lace heart. The nursery curtain, the blanket and the card trimmed with lace all reinforce that profound emotion and commitment. There is no love like that of a mother and child - she was inside your 'cradle' for nine months after all - and will always be cradled in your heart.
A great final alliterative thought: 'forever laced in all my love'.
Best poem I've seen for ages.

This is a very tender and loving verse about a mother's connection with a child linked to a lace memento, so precious and fragile. Your second to last stanza reminds me of a scene from Terms of Endearment when Shirley MacLean's character was so in love with her newborn daughter that she attempted to get in the cot with her. All very beautifully expressed here and a great entry for the club. Debbie

This beautiful poem just melted my heart. I remember these gifts and still have some of them tucked away inside my closet. I take them out, read them again, and cry. There's nothing like them or being a mother. What a lovely offering in free verse poetry.
Sending you my best today as always, dear Jess, and my very best wishes for challenge.

Thank you for sharing this perfectly crafted club entry with us. Yes, a love a mother has for a child is nothing short of beautiful. I swear only another mother understands it. Wonderful job.

That sudden rush of inexplicably strong love is so overwhelming...
Your poem speaks to the eternal promise of unconditional love that the mother and child's bond creates.
Such sweet, delicate but determined words. You will remain mother and lady in shining armor!
Nothing will sever the ties created when you first gazed upon those "two little lines."
