This is a really cool style and I love the stand-a-lone poem within a poem. You've done well with this, in describing the king of the forest as a tree...very creative!

Thank you. I appreciate that.

You are welcome!

Beautiful poem! It highlights the slenderness with which trees face everything in life, good and bad things, the wind and the sun. You have taken all those into account and have written a beautiful poem. It reminds me of the phrase "Trees die standing up." Thanks for sharing your writing

Thank YOU for reviewing. I'm finding out everyone loves trees as much as I do.

Yes, indeed, Damommy! You have an army behind you to support trees and your ideas!
Have a wonderful week, Damommy!

As I read this, I thought about Ezekiel, the Prophet who said the trees talked to him and they will if one will let them. You did well with this. Best to you

What a coincidence. I was just telling Pantygynt the other day that I talk to trees. He wanted to know what they said back to me, but I won't tell. It's a secret. Thank you so much, Ben.

These Constanzas are beginning to grow on me, and I have been lucky enough read several here where the poet has written so well that te form does not advertise its presence but blends in delightfully with the meaning. This is one of them.

Hello Damommy,
Nice piece of poetry meeting the desired norms, having impressive phraseology, smooth flow throughout from the beginning to the end with lovely rhyming scheme, and beautifully depicting its theme.
The last stanza is particularly noteworthy.
Picture enhances depth and beauty of the poem.
Laudable Attempt!

Trees give park that royal touch, I agree with you here and King Henry VIII planted so many trees in England as he was a believer in trees. Great rhymes, although some lines are slightly out of meter, love Dolly x

Thank you, Dolly. Which lines? The first one with gallant? I intended it to be as ga launt'.
-
It was this line that threw me:
redoubtable, gallant, and stark.
But I realise that (gallant) is pronounced with the stress on the second syllable, but we tend to stress the first syllable in the UK. My mistake, your poem is in perfect meter! Love Dolly x

An excellent Constanza Yvonne. This one is a credit to you Yvonne, you are a dab hand and have a versatile application to your superb work. Trees are more than just ornamental, their shade provides cool relief for sojourners, a home fo birds and their chick and some fruit for nourishment, beautifully written My friend, blessings Roy

This is a nice poem, I enjoyed reading it. I love the imagery and the way you personify the tree. It is very well done and fun to read. I particularly enjoyed the last stanza and the sense of peace the poem has to it. Thanks for sharing this and have a great day

What finer topic for your Constanza could there possibly be than the noble tree? There really is nothing better for restoring one's equilibrium than sitting under the shade of one and relaxing. You put so well in your closing couplet
And so it is, distress subdued,
I come away refreshed, renewed.

I'm so glad you think so, Tony. As you know, I love trees. There's something very soothing about them. I once told Jim that I talk to them, and he asked me what they replied. It's a secret. Can't tell. 8-)

Magnificent. Gorgeous imagery and brilliant phrasing--redoubtable, gallant, and stark--a filigree of limbs and leaves--gnarly greaves
flawless flow and rhyme--spot-on title for the theme.
