Hi Tony,
This is a beautiful tribute to the Superfamily Sphingoidea. We have the hummingbird moth that at first glance looks like a small hummingbird. They hover and feed like the bird as well. The hawk moth is also called the sphinx moth. I prefer hawk. I enjoyed reading this poem. Good luck in the contest.

Michael

Beautiful poetry which describes jasmine flowers with such a grace and hawk moth hovers like a lover. Nice work with lovely picture.

Tony, I don't care if verse is free or you had to pay for it, your penning amazes
me! You are truly gifted in my opinion. I read all your poems, but some are too deep for me to review in writing. Thank you so much for sharing,
Virtual hugs,
Trisha

What lovely descriptions, vivid and colourful! This was beautifully written and a wonderful contest entry, hard to find a better one. I especially loved the last two lines, but loved the others as well. Well done and good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

Hello Fawcus, what a pleasantly creative poem. It is as lovely as a ballerina dance and as eloquent as your poetry is always. What a moth. I googled it to get a closer look at it because at first I thought it was a bird. Interesting...

Many thanks for your review, Tier. Much appreciated! It does look a bit like a bird, doesn't it - in fact it is called the humming-bird moth in parts of America.. Best wishes, Tony

Superb free verse poem on the Hawk Moth--a species I never heard of or seen before, but which you bring to life with your exquisite details:

Hawk moths hover,
tipsy wraiths that waft from cup to cup,

This also makes effective use of alliteration to create a smooth, rhythmic read. You end your poem on this enchanting, magical imagery:

kiss the sequined, velvet dress of night
on wings of moonlit lace.

Thank you for sharing your exquisite poem. I wish you success in the contest.
