Hi,Barb. Fantastic chapter here. You never fail to involve the reader distinctively with your use of great images and dialogue. I'm sorry I haven't been here more often...I am still laid up from surgery. Hope you are doing better yourself...Blessings...Bob

You not only write well you research your material thoroughly.
In your notes you described this chapter as boring, I found it most informative. Your characters are clearly defined and their dialogue fits neatly into the situation.
You really are a very good writer

Not boring at all. I enjoyed it. Very well done. We have a Women's Crisis center in town that helps with rent and whatever else is needed whenever an abusee leaves the abuser.

barbara:
I don't know why you think this chapter is boring -- it is
full of important details, yes, but it is also full of angst, compassion, law, budgets, and a whole host of things which make it interesting -- don't sell yourself short
thanks for sharing
love,
jan

I have had reviewers tell me my posts are boring, no action. One even suggested I demonize Anna. I couldn't believe it. I appreciate your kind review.

I thought this was a very good chapter. It reminds an abused woman of the things she needs to consider in taking on the expense of moving out on her own and it also encourages her that it can be done.

Many abused women don't know what needs to be done and then end up in the same or a worse situation. Ones that do know are afraid they can't do it on their own. I appreciate your kind review.

I didn't find the chapter boring at all. Slower moving, but filling in some of the important details to make it a more realistic account. Budgeting to live on your own with a child is important to Anna's survival, having Paul to help is an added bonus and the kindness of this couple is an added touch which highlights the difference between Anna's relationship with her abusive husband and Paul and Betty. I also think you are calming the waters before the storm as Anna's husband is bound to reappear and it won't be pretty. xxmouse

barbara wilkey--Reading this reminds me of some of the movies I've watched on "Lifetime." Only those women usually don't have the support that Anna has. She probably needed someone to help her figure out her finances, and I think it was realistic to include those details. Single mothers need to plan for all those things. This is well told and realistic. Worth the read! judiverse

The sad thing about abusive relationships is the unpredictability. The abusive partner has a hair trigger temper and is set off by anything, no matter how innocent. The children in the relationship is the least of his worries. An account written in a practical way. All the pitfalls are there and the kind hearts of those who help are on display. I do hope it turns out well for Anna. I'll look out for the next chapter. Olliebuster.

Hello, barbara.
I believe this chapter was quite interesting. It provides a good lesson on budgeting in this dreadful economy. Yes, you made Anna fortunate in her supports. If she has take-home of 3100 a month, that too, is more than many have. I think it can't be more than 1200 per month to get help from social services, so who could live on 12 or 1300!
Well done. Warmly, Rebecca
