Yep, that was a man's attitude alright, costing HIM money for you to work. Good one.
This was a nicely written story and the title alone had me quite interested. Too bad about the tree. lol :) Sandra

Thank you Sandra. I appreciate the review and comments. No big loss with the tree. We had plenty of them. LOL We did get a new car. The problem was we'd only had that one a few months.

I have gotten myself ready and four boys for church and have to wait on my husband to get himself ready. I am not sure about that. I have to travel for business and I have to make arrangements for the family, my husband has to travel and he just goes. It doesn't make sense, does it?

Thanks for reviewing this Barbara. I guess it is a good thing one of the couple can get ready fast. Somebody has to get those kids dressed.

So, you're human afterall.
And here I thought I was the only one who kept a hectic pace and smashed up my car when reversing.
You've certainly spelled out sexism in this chapter. The details of women being subject to men comes through loud and clear. I think also that sexism applied far beyond the South, in that day, as only a little less currently.

Hey, Beth. I share your compulsion for punctuality, and also despise being forced to wait for others.
I even got a little impatient waiting for you to tell the story of the accident. See what I mean?
I'm pleased Evan learned his lesson. All it took was a totaled car, and flattened tree.
I agree, Beth, this fits well in your book.
Peace, Lee

Thank you for the review Lee. I think you're implying that I don't get to the point quick enough and put in too much back story but you did tell me in a nice backhanded way. LOL

It is true everyone has a breaking point. It seems you broke your husband's habit of tardiness after this incident. I imagine it is not easy for both spouses working with children, and a house to keep up. Well written, Beth.

This story is a stand alone hit or a part of a book, either way it is priceless. I could see it coming, just didn't know when or how you would 'crack.' LOL Great reading Beth, Carolyn

You know, you've pointed out some things I hadn't thought about. That is, all the differences between men and women in regards to work. Now enlightened, I can't fault you at all for having a momentary loss of composure. (And driving skill)

Thank you Samuel. I don't thing that attitude is around today like it was in the 70's. Maybe we've progressed a little.

Hehe funny now I guess but not at the time. For years at church this one family was always later. he was a Deacon and should not have been late. Then the starting time was moved forward 15 minutes (making the start 15 minutes later. Did the family come on time? No, of course not they were still late for the later time as well. We have some special "doctrines " at our church hehe "Baptist time" later than any other church and "Second Rapture" coz the Baptists will be too late for a first hehe. Thanks for a good read and don't get me going on Southern men and Southern preachers hehe. I even know a Southern preacher who has been in our country for along time who actually justifies the American Civil War and believes that Slavery was ok. Yeah I know the North had slaves too.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. There are some Southern men who still think that way. There are a lot who are still very prejudiced against other races. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Hi Sis and some are Black even hm!! I was so surprised when I saw prejudice of Blacks against their own coloured bros and sisters

Very entertaining... for us, not for you. LOL! I have the same kind of husband. He has no sense of time. So when we have to be somewhere, I change the time by a half hour. It works!

Definitely worthy of a repost. It will fit nicely in your book. Love the inclusion of attitudes toward women in the workplace.
Our rather roomy trunk ceased to exist,--great way to put it. Also the bit about Evel Kneival and daredevils.
Each day, I would sit in the car with children, fuming, and tapping the horn at periodic intervals,--LOL I can picture that.

Thank you for the review and comments. I'm glad you found it funny. That attitude about working women was very much around in the 70's. Hopefully, it's improved some.
