Sue,
This is an enormously deep insight into the essential quality of the poet's soul that stirs up the magic of what we call poetry. Gee, I wish I could write verse like this. I do have one nit, but I don't want to spoil the moment.

Reg

oh, my this is absolutely gorgeous, sensual in a way, all those lovely sounds and sights. I especially like this:
'
I hear the strings of violins
As cellos complement their sounds'
I can just hear those lush cellos and see the abundant flower bed. A job well done, with powerful immages and an even more powerful message. I love reviewing this kind of poem that so artful and well executed. best, mia

very nice poem. it is truly difficult to compose something that is clear yet at the same time has depth. i struggle with this constantly in song writting which is more my area than poetry. you have hit a large nail on the head here. nice job

I'm taking this as a huge compliment!! You know, I have been wondering lately if I could write a song. I do love music so much. Perhaps if I started with a chorus and built around that. Not sure. But, think I'll give it a go one day. You know, Bob Dylan wasn't always clear! HA! I believe that if you write a song which you have so much conviction in, sometimes the meaning can remain a little less unclear to the listener. Hell, I don't even know the meaning of half of Pearl Jam's lyrics! It's a bit different than poetry because it has the music to accompany it. What genre of music do you write? Is it posted here on FS?? Do you write the music also? Thanks so much for your very generous review. And good luck on your song writing! Sue

i usually write love songs /ballads and countryish/ bluegrass types of fun songsl i do write my own music and play several instruments. noneof it is yet on fs but i might see about doing that tool thanks for the encouragement. harp

Very cool. I sure do love Bluegrass. Was raised on it. My Mom and Dad were born and raised in Tennessee, as was every relative I had/have. We used to go down there all the time (I live in Ohio).
Dad taught himself how to play the 5-string banjo. He was a natural.
If you have time, I would love you to read my poem called, "Daddy's Banjo" that I wrote back in December. I wrote it because he died last year and he loved his Gibson banjo so much (and so did all our family). Don't review it, but would just love you to read it since you like Bluegrass.
What I love about a good ballad is that there is usually no pretense.
I lived in Australia for about 8 years. When I moved there, I was really amazed at how their Irish music-turned country was still more on the Irish side. Hard to describe, but maybe you know what I mean. Like, the opposite of the American south, where our bluegrass music roots are from the Irish music, but it changed from the Irish more rapidly. Anyway, I liked the sound of the Australian country music, too. Great ballads. They are not as "bluesy" as we are; just great story-tellers in their ballads.
Are you planning on posting your lyrics anytime?
Take care,
Sue

I loved your poem it was very thought provoking. I am so pleased to read that some times others maynot know what the artist is portraying because some times I ask myself is it just me...should I know what is being said? Sometimes I feel like this about poems that I read and I think I should know what this about but I don't!! Hope I make sense!

I learned long ago to appreciate any kind of art my own way and not feel the need to see it as others. If there are 10 people fawning over a painting and you don't like it or if it doesn't do anything for you, then it just doesn't. That's the greatness of art. Yeah and the same for poems. Some speak to us and some don't. Glad this one spoke to you! HA!! Thanks very much for your great review. And thanks for sharing your own thoughts. With regards, Sue

I've seen Farenhit 451 and this is a cold and dead world without art. Great metaphor. Interesting where inspiration comes from. Glad I won't be alive when the world is like that. joan marie

So many areas we consider art..
music, painting, outdoor beauty, prose, poems, dance...
and so many more. Your poem is insightful, causing the reader to ponder also, just why and what did the artist intend.
Very very well done, with astounding artwork.
