you can awaken from these nightmares with doing this
tell your self before you go to sleep that when you look
at your hand in the dream you will awaken
this works quite well, I learned this from an native American shaman
I have done this and it works like a charm
this was my pleasure to have read and reviewed this well written essay... John

Hi Jan:
I like the lovely way you recognized God smiling upon you. A testament of his love. It gave you the peace and solitude you needed when it was beneficial for you. We all need to seek help once in a while. Written very well, without error and I enjoyed your piece.

Hi Jan :)
Trauma is a strange thing. I don't know any of the details of your rape, but I know mental trauma I've told you about my horrible stepfather and the trauma he brought to my family.
I relived some of the worst incidents over and over and sought out groups to heal the psychic wounds until one night, I was late for a group. I wandered alone in the dark.and suddenly a new awareness came. My stepfather had been dead for thirty-one years and so far as I knew I alone still survived to carry his memory on. At that moment I was free. Now it is twenty-six years later and the trauma has never returned. I will never again be the one who keeps the fear alive.
I pray that you will find the same release. May God bless and set you free so you can turn all your life toward the pleasantries that can surround you.

This is a very good but very sad write you have done. I do know how it feels to live through trauma. Great descriptive wording. You gave the best advice ever. Lean on Jesus. Love you, Teri

Janilou,
This is an excellent memoir, and without any nits that I could find. A horrid deed, one that doesn't take much time, can scar a victim for life. Hang in there.

Hullo Janilou ....
Thank you for sharing with us, your memories which, for so long, caused you to have nightmares. Oh yes - I understand very well. On one occasion, I was attacked from behind. For weeks after that, every night, just as I was drifting off to sleep, it was as if it was all happening again.
There was a second occasion which caused similar nightmares.
The way God heard and answered your prayer that night, sending His beautiful benediction such as you have described,
is yet another sign of His love and care for His children in their time of need and help.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
With love from ....... Nanette Mary.

I've kept mine open for non- member too, for the same reason, but it seems like she's no longer around, so I may close it now. Anyway, this is terrible, not your writing, but your fear. I don't know what it'slike, but I can only imagine, and I imagine lots of things. I was thnking, ah oh, but what if you write what happened, but in the end change the situation, maybe you get to him before he gets to you.
My friend who is here on FS, wrote about her rape, she wound up getting nominated for the story, I think it helped her. As a writer, you can make it fiction and change the outcome. Just a thought, as I was reading your story.
feel better. We love you , Jan.

Janilou,
I know exactly what you mean. At a time like that we should cry out to God and know that He is near. Sometimes we toss and turn and then remember He's the one we need. Some pain remains over the years, but hopefully it gets much better over the years.
