Oh, this poem rings true with me. I can be very organized and would be if I lived alone (have been in the past), but efforts to be so now are futile with family who drift in my cleaning wake to scatter all my hard work. And, the more people one loses, the harder it is to dispose of all those items that evoke their memory and happier times. I often think what will happen to all these lovely things when I am gone and they don't mean as much to those left behind? I need to do the Swedish Death Clean. Your poem is lovely and I'm sure most people will relate to it. Best wishes in the competition!

Oh Gail, I hear you. I try myself to throw, but my husband wants everything right where he puts it so I finally give up and it is discouraging. Yet, I don't let him get by with it much, but wow, it adds up after a while if you aren't on it all the time.

Leaving treasured things for family members is great. However, I am now sending things to my family so they can enjoy them now.

I used to work for the NHS in England and we would sometimes have to help sort out people's properties whilst they were in hospital. It was that or they would be evicted. What I found without fail was the situation is made worse when those people keep pets. That is when you actually start finding Mess. Thank you for taking me back to those days. Wonderful! And I have got to admit that I can personally relate to this. I hate to throw things away, especially those that have deep memories attached to them. And honestly, I struggle in order while I thrive in what many consider a mess.

Thanks, Dolly for your lovely review. My friend was not a hoarder or a junk collector but a lovely home maker. She just liked to buy and always had her house kept up and everything had it's place, but like I said she did have things stacked in bins in the upstairs of her house that nobody was using.
So we did I worry about her because she seemed like she had too much stuff up there. Then when she died, she left them with some riches that they sold and kids paid off their houses with some of her stuff. Thanks again for the kind words. Love, Debi
