I love these minute verses and this is the best I've seen and a sure winner! I'm so sorry I'm not able to give you more. It flows like a dream as though the verse form were made for it. And packed full of emotion, personification of nature, alliteration and so much more. This is clearly written by someone who appreciates and respects the thrills of nature and has great skill translating it into poetry. I don't think you need it but I'll wish you good luck anyway (and maybe withdraw my own entry:)) Debbie

Thank you Debbie. I so glad to know you liked my minute poem. It is always nice when an awesome poet like you says something good about my work.

My daughter loves thunderstorms, too. Me- not so much. I liked this one very much. The line I suggest changing isn't wrong; I just think it would have more impact if you removed "lights" and put "splits" or some other one-syllable word.

Thank you Sallyo. I think you are right the word splits works better there. I appreciate you sharing that.

I, too, like to see the rolling thunderclouds and I love the wind, but when the lightening strikes close by, then that's the end of me. The forces of nature are powerful and have its beauty in the distance...that's close enough. Your poem describes it well.

Thank You Carol, It can get get a little close and be a bit scary. I don't like the idea of trees going down across my drive so I can't get out.

Very powerful poem. I am more afraid of high winds than of thunderstorms, but cyclones (and hurricanes) are another level because of their power of destruction and causing death. What a stunning photo! And a beautiful well written poem. Best wishes for the contest.

Strange or not, this is a wonderful Minute about Spring and how it arrives on our doorsteps. I especially liked "while crickets cry with grateful glee to know they're free".
I love a good Minute, and this one is good. I wish you luck in the contest.

I love the way you shared about storms in April, the whole adage of April showers bringing May flowers. I just wish it could spread itself out a bit more. I could stand for a little of that rain in the middle of Summer.
Your poem expertly describes what you see and feel in the midst.
You've sure been through your share of tornadoes!
Take care,
Rhonda

Thank you so much Rhonda. Spring is my favorite season so it is a logical choice to write about. I love thunderstorms but not so much grey days with drizzle all day.

Indeed cb's (cumulus-nimbus clouds) are amazing. I have sat for hours when the lights blow out or on a beach with no ambient lights about watching bolts of lightning desecrate wherever the arrows land. I was in the Naval Weather service for ten years. Loved it.

It is good to know I'm not the only who enjoys storms. I think they are exciting and dramatic. The more noise ane light shows the better.

I love this minute poem. And I love the excitement that shows through
your well rhymed and metered poem, your anticipation of the coming storm.
Good luck in the contest.

Great photo. I love a thunderstorm too. Great metaphor about the black sky setting the stage for Spring's birth. Alliteration in lines six, nine, ten and eleven.

There are many things that signal the onslaught of spring and its new beginnings. Storms are certainly one of them. Almost everything that is positive and good has an aspect of challenge that accompanies it. Although I don't really like storms, like you, I can see the beauty in nature's tumult. thanks for sharing.
