Wow! Most all of these people you mention are a part of my fan family and they all have given me good advice as well. I regret that I didn't read you entry and maybe the reason why is that I wasn't notified you posted. I'd like to change that by adding you as someone of whom I'm a fan. Actually when I tried to add you, I found out there is a limit to how many you can add in one day. I'll have to do it later because I've met my limit.

Hi Douglas,
That's the thing about advice, everyone has some to give. the best you can do is take from it what you think works for you.
Thankfully the dickheads didn't find you on this one (yep, i saw that review!).
Hope you can take strides to doing what makes you comfortable.
All the best

Thanks. I think, at the very least, it was therapeutic to talk about and discuss. Thanks for the review.
By the way, I stand by my comment on the two star. If the guy has the balls to give a two star then have the courtesy to point out all of the infractions he stated existed on a 2000 word chapter that he claimed to have read and reviewed 8 seconds after it posted.
I needed a Sanderson?s sisters calming circle that night!

Oh, I agree. I once had a 1-star review given as a revenge review which was infuriating as it had nothing to do with what I wrote.
There are a few of those around sadly.

Wow. Okay. I try steer clear of giving people advice on forgiveness. I am not qualified enough. But i can say from personal experience that to forgive is to extend mercy. And who among us does not want to receive mercy? So give and you shall receive. Period. Point blank.
I have found alot of unforgiving duds on fanstory. Lol it is a real old mindset
Nice work.

Nuggets of wisdom are always the best. They tend not to choke you as they`re being digested. Forgiveness might be one of the hardest emotions to conquer as it has duel paths. Personally, I believe it comes down to what embodies us as a person, forgiveness speaks volumes of who we are. Good luck and thanks for the nuggets.

Dual paths. That is quite profound. Thanks, my friend.

Thanks for sharing all the feedback that you received and especially making notes of what resonated most with you. I still say it's between you and God. Be free of that burden!

When things get muddled, just remember it's not about us. It's all about Jesus.

Appreciating the advice from others is not always easy but I truly believe that you got some wonderful comments here. This is a very nice post, and it does give an understanding to many concerns. Great writing.

What wonderful insights from our FanStory friends. I wish I had something to add to their wisdom, but I think I just need to learn from it.
Thank you for sharing. You could easily have kept this to yourself, but I am so glad you did not.

We'll, Douglas, I will certainly read Magnum PI. But I get the essence from all these answers.
What I encountered was never physical abuse but psychological abuse which can be as bad. I was adopted and I loved my parents deeply. After my adoptive father died when I was only seventeen, my adoptive mother totally changed. She tried to dominate me and used all psychological means to do so. She almost succeeded, but then I bolded. I managed to break away and lead a happy life.
But even so she still tried to interfere in my life even trying to break up my marriage.
So did I forgive her? No is the short and the long answer. I simply walked away and eliminating her from my life, and I felt so much happier for it. Ulla:)))

Man there are so many of these type of stories. Sad statement for society but also a good one that so many of us have moved forward.

I've just updated my answer as it was somehow cut short.

Oh my. You are a survivor my friend!

well, I must agree with Terry B. and also with Barbara P.P., except that I think sometimes when a person is so angry it is affecting his/her health, instead of eggs in a bucket, do something that involves physical action such as hitting a baseball, golf ball, tennis ball, pitching a ball, jogging,
something that when finished, is rewarding, physically, and hopefully will banish the anger. Since this will not take care of the problem permanetly, perhaps make a habit of it and it will hopefully work, twofold: release the anger and be physically enjoyable and rewarding. The person who said forgive yourself and get on with your life , to me, makes good sense. ENJOY the physical experience. No need to punish yourself or feel bad for enjoying the exercise. So sayeth me.
PS, I do not mean to take your deep feelings lightly, maybe this remedy could be one of several things to lighten your load.

I love that picture, Douglas, it's a super-hug. I read all the replies you've posted here, and I'm sure they will help so many people to move on and let the hurt drift away. Sometimes we need that advice, especially when it's personal and painful. This is an amazing family we have here, my friend, I've already been wrapped in their arms. This was a pleasure to read, and I hope we all helped you with your decision. Love and hugs. Sandra xxx
