Providence to the rescue it would seem. Sorting through a mountain of books would be a time absorbing and Herculean task, but this certainly seems coincidental. Lord Brandon is a bit much, an unrepentant slob of a man, how did Miles spring from them? Beautifully written Sandra, excellent Roy

Oh that picture has an important piece of evidence on the back! I can just feel it! I liked how Bessie and Margot analyzed the situation. I hope Bessie finds out about Lady Gwendolyn's poison.
Speaking of poison, I hope that in those days they used graphite not lead in the pencils!

I just googled pencils and although they call them lead pencils, they isn't any lead in them at all and never has been!!! I never knew that! You always find something that makes me go Googling!!! LOL! Thank you for that, I think I'll change it, even though everyone says a lead pencil. It might make my other readers go Googling!! Lol.

I'm going to test my hubby's knowledge now. Hang on .... He didn't know either!! Lol
Thank you, dear friend, for another wonderful, educational review. Love you lots, and sending an extra hug. :)) Sandra xxx

Lol. I'm glad that they were always graphite and never lead! Thanks for being curious and sharing with me! Hugs!!

But!! Did you know that babies cots/ cribs used to be painted in lead paint? How we never died, goodness knows, most babies chew on the wood. It was banned in the UK in the 1950s, and the 1970s in US. Lead paint is now banned everywhere, but if you buy old vintage cots, or anything painted before those dates, it's likely lead paint was used as all paint had lead in it!!! OMG!
Just because I said we licked the lead before writing, we now have the history of lead paint!! I might write a piece on that! 😂 xx
reply by lyenochka on 20-Jun-2022
Oh, and we had house painters here who refuse to paint houses with paint older than 1970s because of the possibility of lead. Yes, please write us a piece about that! 💖
reply by the author on 20-Jun-2022
That's right, so many older house, pre 1970s were painted in lead paint. It leaves lead dust in the air. I will write a piece about it because I don't think many people know that. I've got to tell my son, now. He's just bought a lovely old house well over a 100 years old.

You certainly left off at an exciting place. What was sticking to the back of that picture? It surely has something that will bring Margot closer to discovering the facts behind Meg's murder, and possibly prevent it from happening. Gwendolyn is pretty disgusting. She is more interested in rubbing it n that Meg won't inherit than by the death of her husband. I like the discussion between Margot and Bessie about the possible suspects. Bessie is onto something, but we don't know what yet. She certainly keeps the suspense going. I am certainly loving this. judi

Thank you so much, Judi, you're right about them getting closer. There are some shocks, and twists coming up. I'm so glad you are enjoying my story, it really is so encouraging. Thanks so much for the sixth star, my friend, I really do appreciate it- almost as much as your amazing comments. Love and hugs, Sandra xx

I think the maid found the evidence with her head. You certainly left it dangling at the end. How soon will the next chapter be up??? Great job. Enjoy your sunday. Shirley

Sorry I've taken so long, Shirley, it was Father's Day here as well as in the US. It was a hectic day!

Oh here goes my last six, Sandra, and I'm so glad to give it to you. As usual it was a great chapter and the story is moving along nicely. Now, I just wonder if the missing note has just appeared. I can't wait to reading on.
I won't post the Fisherman this week, but I do have two stories on the go. Both for contest. They are in my portfolio. At the moment both pay.
It's such a great story this. A big hug, Ulla xxxx

Thank you so much for this lovely review and all the stars, Ulla, your words really mean a lot. I'm rather late replying as it was Father's Day yesterday and we were entertaining most of the day. By the evening, I was worn out! I hate getting old. What's the weather like now? Still boiling? It's been so hot here but today we have a lovely breeze. Love and hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Hi Sandra, I can understand you would have been worn out. I'm glad you had a lovely day.
It's almost 10 pm here and still 30 degrees, but that's actually quite pleasant compared to what it has been. lol. Ulla xxxx

Wow! It has to be the note! It seems Margot and Bessie are getting all sorts of help finding clues to solve the mystery.
I have faith though they will get it done. LOL well done Sandra. I hope Margot meets her own Miles when she get Meg and Miles back together. Nancy:)

Oh my, the plot thickens, does it not, Sandra? This definitely was a fantastic continuation chapter. I really enjoyed Mile's confrontation with his father, Lord Brandon. Then to add spice to the life of Margot/Meg and Bessie, she meaning Margot discovers something in the frame which the unfortunate maid has broken. Very well done, greatly enjoyed. Hugs!

Well, now, I'll be wondering what was in the picture. I like that Miles discovered his mother out riding. That will put a stop to using her health to control everyone. Interesting about licking the pencil. I didn't know that, either.

I still do moisten my pencil before writing. I just never knew why we did it. Thank you so much, my dear SATP for reading this chapter and giving it one of your precious sixes, I really do appreciate it. Sending you the biggest hug, and lots of love. It's lovely to see you writing again, too. :)) Sandra xxxx

-You don't disappoint with this chapter, Sandra.
-Margot begins from where she left off, and I don't blame her.
-Bessie has a way of calming her down so they can focus on the business at hand.
-There is more investigating and thinking to do so they make their plans.
-They made a list of possible suspects, and Bessie seems to have a few in mind. Very interesting "transformation" taking place in her, and I was waiting for someone else to magically appear! She also seems to have a plan in mind.
-The scene with Miles and his father was a good one, and we learn some interesting details about his mother. I hope his plan to see Meg doesn't get in the way of Bessie and Margot's plans.
-Finally, you leave us in suspense about what fell out of the picture.
-Things are getting more and more mysterious!
-Well done, my friend!!

Aw, thank you, Pam. Yes, Miles' mother has been playing this game for years, which wasn't nice for Miles. I'm so plesed you enjoyed this part, I'm trying not to put too much in to give it away too soon. Thank you, my dear friend for another of your special reviews and for the lovely shiny star! Love and hugs. :)) Sandra xxx

You are very welcome and deserving of the stars and review, Sandra. I wouldn't want you to give anything away!! I didn't know about Miles' mother; I don't recall much being said about her. Hmmmmmm

So, Miles is playing hardball with his Dad! (That Yank term isn't lost on you, is it?) I don't think you're going to surprise us next week by disclosing that the heart attack wasn't faked. Are you?

A few things:

after licking the sharpened lead, [That's a lost art! I don't know that I would use "licking" though. Wouldn't it be more of a touching the tip of it to her tongue?]

'Crikey, Bessie,' [How I love that word 'Crikey!' I wish we could use it in American dialogue, but it would be like a Brit saying, "Fugittaboutit"!]

to see all her personal things shared between people she hated. [It's close, but shouldn't it be "among" the people she hated?]

The picture was of no consequence, but what was sticking out the back, was... [Okay, you magician, you. You know I'm coming back next week! Was the maid dusting, or snooping? And has Margot found the missing letter? Hmmmm.]

Until we meet again.
Jay

Aww, Jay, you are such a love. Thank you so much for this lovely review, and your suggestions. I've changed the 'licking' and almost copied what you've suggested. What on earth is a Fugittaboutit? I can't even say it! Lol!
As for the heart attack, no Miles isn't quite finished with him yet 😊
Thank you so much for the glorious sixth star, my lovely friend. You know how much I look forward to your reviews. I'm always smiling from the first sentence! Love and hugs, dear friend. :)) Sandra xx
