Hello Terry a marvelous Monday to you, I hope this finds you well. I liked your recent offering and tribute to a Mentor. Definitely sounds like a most interesting man, the world could use more men/people like that. have a great day!

As you say, a most interesting man and an example to us all. He seems to have overcome all obstacles with great fortitude and devoted his life to others. Well told, and a nice twist of I will never ask you for another thing at the end.

You were so fortunate to have known and been mentored by such a great man, Terry. I'd never heard of him, but then I walk in a small circle. Some might have thought Jim to be hypocritical by the way he escalated his prayers for ever-broadening desires but I believe he was praying each time for no more than his faith allowed him to believe ... and God only answered what His child could conceive as possible.
All of this was balanced so beautifully in the last paragraph. This is a beautiful job you did, Terry. What a tribute to a remarkable person.

You are an excellent storyteller and made me cry with sorrow that I did not know Jim. Your use of the idea of bargaining with God and God returning the favor make for a well-rounded story.

This is a nicely written story to tell about a friend and mentor who was a very special man. If he got polio after the WWII it much have been not too long before the vaccine came out. It seems as he new some well known celebrates. Of course the most important one he knew was God. It seem he lived a life that made a difference.

That was fascinating! Your writing was clear and compelling as you paid tribute to a fine man who showed faith and perseverance despite everything. I liked the way you brought it full circle and turned the tables at the end. Excellent writing. I found it particularly pertinent as my husband too had polio and has always walked with a pronounced limp. He fortunately was never in an iron lung.

I would have liked to have known Jim. I do know him a bit now, thanks to your sharing.
He might have turned bitter and withered away. He did not. What a fulfilling and interesting life he had! The ending of your non-fiction story is just perfect!

You have expressed your experience about lives and persons, particularly about a mentor, a most interesting man, in terms of living, faith and belief in God, orderly, simply and fairly paying tribute to the man; well said, well done; post more. ALCREATOR LITT DEAR (D R)

What a moving tribute you have written about an extraordinary man. Three words come to mind: faith, tenaciousness and kindness. I guess if you have those three qualities you can live a life that brings goodness and happiness not only to yourself, but also to those with whom you share life. Very, very nice. I wish I had known James C. McCormick. Count yourself blessed.
