Autumn's Serenade

This is one of the best ABC poems that I have reviewed.
A taste of autumn in the air
Betrays the coming cold.
Clean out the closet 'neath the stair.
Decide what to unfold.
Each piece of winter woolen ware
Foretells that raw and harsh affair.

This is a great ABC poem contest entry.
The chosen letters of - ABCD,E - are described in a beautiful
visual of autumn display. Eloquently expressed with -
cantatas flow from quaking leaves. A most enjoyable read.
Best of luck in the competition.

This is lovely.
We are all used to reading excellent autumnal poetry at this time of year and most of it concentrates on visual imagery. I was particularly impressed with the way you took this from the visual through the aural imagery of cantatas, key changing into the last line.
There is something essentially evanescent about autumn.

I love the autumn colors too, but there is a sound that only comes when the brisk winds blow and the leaves change color ~ it's fun to try to capture it with my pen. :). Thank you so much, Jim.

The colours we all associate with Autumn - the transition from green to light yellow, deep gold, orange, crimson and dark red - are all inspired by this natural process. You have created wonderful imagery. Beautufully penned poem. Good luck in the contest!

This ABC poem, Autumn's Serenade, follows the ABCDE first-letter formatting and welcomes in the orchestral cacophony of seasonal sounds which usher in the time of change from rapid growth to patience.

Hi Pam. Thank you so much for your insightful comments on this verse ~ there is a song in the autumn leaves, if we only but listen. :).

You are very welcome, Melissa. I never thought about a song in the leaves so I will listen more closely.

This is an outstanding poem. You have excellent rhyme and rhythm and your imagery is down-right splendid. The picture is also perfect. It reminds me of walking down the road from my grandparent's farm. Well done. Good luck in the contest.

Hi Sugarray,
Oh, this is beautiful! I love every lovely word of this excellent post! Autumnal and timely as the leaves are falling in droves around my yard... I am enchanted by your aligning the change to fall as to ethereal music- 'mellow serenades, dulcet tones, cantatas flow...
' deep, earthy voices changing keys...
elusive, golden melodies.'
Beautiful, Sugarray... Best to you in the contest :))
Always,
Senyai
