We don't have cicadas where I live in South Australia, but the have them in their scores in the eastern states. This is a beautifully crafted and presented work dear Melissa, in a wonderfully woven Rondeau, which is a favourite of mine, but requires a little concentration, because one has to choose the easier rhymes. Beautifully written my friend, promoting the beauty of the natural things, well done, blessings Roy

Hi Roy... you are really missing out if you don't have cicadas sing to you in the summertime (big smile)... I really appreciate your comments and I'm so glad you enjoyed this Rondeau. Hugs, my friend.

This is a beautiful poem. The author's words are a concert in nature,
descriptive, lovely and creative. I pondered on these words and with
such a great description I imagined the scene. The artwork is perfect
and compliments these words. I hope you are doing well.....Maria

I'm not a bug person. We were camping and they happened to be out. They were everywhere. My sister was scared I was going to hate. It would have been a long weekend since they were everywhere. However, I quite liked them. They have their own way about them. Great job.

Hello. Thanks so much. I was out on my deck and heard them singing which gave me the idea for this verse. :)

I really like the rondeau. Yours is especially well done, with perfect rhyming and metrical patterns and vivid details to describe this
feast for the senses.

Thank you so very much, Janice. I enjoy the challenge of writing a rondeau... I nearly gave up on this one. LOL

I have that experience sometimes. I usually realize I'm trying to shove too much into one poem! LOL!

So true... me too.

Your beautiful word pictures put the reader in that restful green place, listening to the music of the cicadas and the bees. Great rhyming and rhythm, a delight to read.

A beautiful poem, Melissa, as summer winds down to a crawl. I've never tried a Rondeau, but you're tempting me.
The repeated "cicadas sing" is quite effective in the beginning of verse 1, and at the end of verses 2 & 3.
I also like the phrases throughout,
"shadowed trees/vacillating harmonies/spreading thyme/wooded clime/ impassioned music/Damp, humid air/languid ease/sultry rhyme/swelling, loud cacophonies/slow, droning bees/concentrated, blended chime/entrancing summer melodies"
Terrific imagery and sound abound in your poem as we say goodbye to those "lazy, hazy crazy days of summer".
Nicely penned! You get my first six.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Sugarray77, absolutely fantastic work here. I always like the notion of there being music in nature - a natural symphony, that kind of thing. The imagery you create here, both visually and auditorily, is strong and helps to bring the reader into the world of the poem. Beautiful job. Thank you for sharing.

Your poem is very visual. It's easy to imagine this wood you describe and almost to hear it.
I like the repetition of 'cicadas sing' very much.
As usual, the presentation (font and picture) is great.
Thanks for sharing.
