I suspected that painting was Van Gogh; his artwork always makes mr feel good just looking at those bright dramatic brush strokes. And the poem and font that you use were complimentary to his art.

I really appreciate your author's notes about the names of groups of various birds, including a murder of crows. It made your poem more enjoyable, because it is more easily understood. Great work. Best wishes in the contest.

Wow! I wasn't expecting such an in-depth description of this short poem, but I get it.
This is a perfect explanation of Van Gogh's painting of the wheatfields, and you have done a magnificent job with the wording.
But, you have given a beautiful sentiment and a logical reason for writing this piece.
Eloquent.

Wicked good! (It's an old Boston phrase)---
Love the tone of this 5-7-5 and it's just absolutely perfect paired with Van Gogh's art.
My senses are saturated with your well chosen words. Nature is amazing...
Perhaps this was a foreboding, for him...perhaps those that interpret it as such are right!
Meanwhile--stellar work!
(Sadly, I only have five "stellars" to give...)

A lovely 5/7/5 poem showcasing the Van Gogh painting with your well chosen words.
Thank you also for your notes and the reminder of the various groups of birds. I used to know all the groups but alas, I have forgotten some so this was a great reminder.
Well done.
Blessings

Hi Janet,
I understand, I had to look up the collective nouns too. Easy to forget what we don?t use every day.
Thank you for an amazing review and encouraging comments, Janet. Truly appreciated!

Isn't it funny, that we will mould the artistic mind into what we like to think it's saying. Sometimes I may look at a poem I've written, and think, "What the...?" But I'm wandering what others think, but I'm not thinking anything, the subconscious is an amazing place, or perhaps my thoughts are merely connected to...? Well done Senyai, good job, good luck, blessings Roy

Hi Roy,
Wow, yes, I feel what you are saying! I look at my poems and they stare back foreign looking. Like did I actually write this? LOL. What state of mind was I in when I wrote that?
I have always loved the painting ?Wheatfield with Crows? by Van Gogh so I thought I?ll write about what I feel when I look at it. Damp earth, just rained on the wheat and crows everywhere?
Thank you as always for your excellent critique and encouraging words on my work. I truly appreciate both so much!
All the best, Roy :))

I found the author's words to be vivid, interesting, descriptive and creative.
Thank you so much for the author's notes - all my questions were answered! I thought about the theme of these words as I look more closely at this amazing artwork. The poem flows and connects well.

Those corn stealing crows are no doubt up to no good yet again. They are or at least seem to be always up to no good. Murder of crows indeed, more like murdering crows. The way the can devastate a corn crop in mere minutes. I tell you, they are no good vagabonds who ought to be driven out.
