Congratulations, this poem deserved to be a winner. The limited poetic form is a challenge for any author. To be able to deliver a spot on message in so few words is a skill quite difficult to master. But you did it so well in this work.

But I am not a big fan of rhyme - reminds me of elementary school and/or archaic times. Sometimes art forms move on. Seems least likely with writing. Maybe I define poetry as writing absent the constraints of grammar. Much more linguistic freedom to evoke thought and emotion.

God bless loving mothers. Many are not. Every day you hear sad stories of mothers who abandon their children. I sometimes think those are the lucky children who are abandoned by uncaring mothers. It may be their only hope.
