Very cute! Well, I'm not too keen about free gun access but it's fine for kids to have a wonderful imagination and dream of helping people and keeping justice. Hopefully, he'll find peaceful ways to do so when he's older.

Nicely done. When I began reading this, I was unaware of its entry to a 100 word contest.
I was pleasantly surprised as I reached the ending.
Well done. John

Loved this one! Being mom to a 10 year old son, I can definitely relate to this. Oh, the places their imaginations take them and what wonderful heroes they become! Great flash fiction with an awesome surprise ending! This was so much fun to read! Best of luck to you in the contest! :)

Thank you! Yes, a youngster's imagination is far more vivid than any movie. God bless the little ones and the Mom's who love them. God bless you, Dennis

Dennis, you had me picturing the galloping horses, the fallen trees and the bad guys falling from their steeds and read for the gunfight, then surprise me with his mama putting him to bed. Nice touch . Patricia

LOL, it worked! There's no movie as vivid as a youngster's imagination. Thanks so much for reviewing, and God bless you, Dennis

This is a cute contest entry, Deniz :) You had me wondering at the end. It took me a few minutes to figure it out that Tex was a young boy.
I really enjoyed your phrase, "Tex was onto them like a Mama bear onto fresh salmon".
That line made me think of Festus on Gunsmoke. He used to say something like, "I'll be all over you like an ape onto ugly". Or something like that.
Best wishes in the contest. This is a fun entry.
