Exemplary poem and message! You nailed this one! It comes across like you wrote it free hand with one draft. It seems to come so naturally to you to write in these forms that are so foreign to me. I love the rhymes such as that and splat! Also innocence, pretence, and sense. All are perfect rhymes with the meaning as well as the sounds. This is so good I'm at a loss for words to compliment you further, so I'll just end with, well deserved 6 stars!
Take care, Jesse

Thanks, Jesse. I appreciate your review and kind words. Delighted that you found this worthy of six stars. My granddaughter sometimes provides welcome inspiration! Best wishes, Tony

Well, you are lucky to have such an inspirational granddaughter! I have no children in my life. I miss that and regret that deeply. Hug your granddaughter once for me, will you?
Take care, Jesse

Geesh, Tony, has this been posted for awhile? I only ask because I somehow completely missed it until just now.
It is also a well-composed Nove Otto poem that follows the format as to syllable count, rhyming pattern and meter to the tee.
Loved the message it conveys. It made me pine for those halcyon days of my youth.

This speaks what, how is our world, how we see from dimensions, everywhere dark and grey, so we are cautious about our steps of living, but children per innocence do not; I liked.

-I love the photo, Tony, thanks for sharing it.
-Format is good, and adds flow to the poem.
-Very effective imagery:
"They jump right in! Both feet go splat!"
-Many good ideas in the poem, but
I think the last line says it all!
-Good luck in the contest.

Hi, Pam. Thanks very much for taking the time to drop by and review this and for your generous award of sparkling boots! Much appreciated. Best wishes, Tony

You are very welcome for the review and "sparkling boots award." I enjoyed it, as it was about my favorite Jr. FS member, Tony.🙂

Ah, those puddles, full of fantasies, worlds and ripples
and Nove Otto poems with perfect meter and rhyme
The best part is the "splat"
especially if you're wearing yellow wellies
Those were the days and this is a fine poem
with a great picture of Teagan
Best wishes in the contest

Very many thanks, RS. Glad you enjoyed it. I very much appreciate your kind words. Most affirming! 'Splat' did it for me, too, but I'm thinking of changing the two preceding lines. They don't quite reflect what I wanted to say.
Teagan continues to be an inspiration. There's a good chance that Anna and Dave will be able to bring her over to spend Christmas in Australia this year.
Best wishes, Tony

Just the right choice of art work to exemplify your
dance of words as the poetically pirouette down
the page telling this tale of life itself
Well done

This is such a delightful
poem to read. I love the images conveyed
of the reflections but the true wonder of puddles
is the magic children seem to find in them as they
jump in with both feet.
Perfect Nove Otto form.

Of course life makes more sense when you are young. Everything is wonderful and new, and it's all there to make us happy. I long for the days when rain clouds meant mud puddles, splashing ,and having a great time. Now that I'm grown, all it means now is getting wet.

I like your poem very much and the spontaneous feel of it, a child jumps into a puddle, splat! The illustration seems to show that this was written with inspiration,
just on the spur of a moment.

I've decided to attack my inbox of reviews back-to-front today, for I never quite seem to get to the bottom of it! Apologies for not having responded to this for well over a week, which is not a reflection on the value i place on it! I appreciate your review of my poem, "Puddles" and your kind comments. Thank you, Carolyn! All the best, Tony

This work is a delight, with an important message and an observation we can all learn from.
How true, how true, the last line. I'm still doing it. I make a game out of various activities. It's so ingrained, it's second nature.
"When life's a game it makes more sense." And it helps pass the time.
