Oh, the black holding cell sounds kind of fun, in a spooky way.

Is that ride ever interesting. Never heard of anything like it before, but it just goes to show you how easily our systems can be disrupted.

Another great chapter in your book, Shari.

Good insight about our systems being disrupted or manipulated. Look who's running for President! Not a laughing matter.

I feel your pain on the ride, I do not go on rides, even simulated ones. It does sound like your son-in -law pulls the strings. Your description of the ride is vivid and scary.

What a fabulous chapter this is, Shari. Your vivid descriptions made me feel I was right there with you and the video at the end was a bonus.

I was particularly struck by your tender jester to Frank, placing you hand on his. Hugs, Lou

Thanks, Lou, for mentioning the gesture. No one else did. But it was important to express our connection. Appreciate the six. Glad you liked the video.

The power of perception is powerful. I like your daughter's response: "As long as I knew it was simulated." Once your mind is in that mode, you can enjoy the ride. It's a shame you and Frank didn't have that choice so you could prepare yourself.

I watched the attached video and it is scary.

Good morning, Shari,
I smiled through most of this one because I could so relate to being in that dark room and then the simulation starting. I would be right there with you, maybe peeping out once ot twice. lol
Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next. :-)

Thanks, BG. They didn't have that sort of thing in my generation. So much cheaper that the tunnels Disney built.

Sounds like a fun ride... just keep telling yourself it's a movie and all in your head. Easier to say than do, I suppose. Wish I could go there. Sounds like a fascinating place, with all the movie sets. :)

It's fantastic. A lot of new stuff has been added in the last five years. The Studio Tour is what I'm talking about. I'll take a bye on rides anymore. :-)

I was lucky enough to have been able to visit Universal Studios with my best friend, Don Holbrook. That was way back in '72, when I was but a young whipper-snapper. I've always wanted to go back as I'm sure it's changed drastically over the years. I'll never forget the shark from JAWS attacking our tram. It scared the bejeezus outta me!

"I figured our box would be one of many going through a tunnel much like "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" in Disneyland. A little fast, but nothing Frank couldn't handle."--------Yeah, and the "It's a Small World" boat ride they have there, too, or used to at least.. That one's easy enough for anyone to handle.
I'll give you just one guess--even at 12--which ride was my favorite in the entire theme park. I won't tell ya', but I'll bet you get it on the first try, LOL...

In many ways husbands and/or wives do allow themselves to be puppeted by their significant others. It simply avoids unnecessary and unwanted confrontations.

Yet another well written, error-free Chapter, Shari. I enjoyed reading it...So sorry, I've no sixes remaining. :(

I haven't been to Disney for over thirty years, but looking at a list of their attractions, I'm betting it's the haunted mansion. There's one with an elevator ride that drops so fast, it is frightening.
You're right about confrontations. I'll be interested on your take in the next chapter.
    Love the signature.

See? You guessed it right on the very first try, Shari. That wasn't too difficult now, was it? LOL...
Thanks for playing Bet You Can't Guess. What do we have for her, Johnny? Heh-heh...

You are more than welcome. Enjoy your weekend.

I loved this description of the Simpsons ride! Having made my first and only trip to Universal Studios three years ago, I can just imagine what this one felt like. Your description is complete with the sensory derails needed to put me there. I love stuff like this. And the video you included was just icing on the cake.

This is so well written it takes me back to my holiday in Florida where we also tried the 'Simpsons' experience. You brought it back to life for me and id forgotten all about it. I can certainly imagine how you felt. Kindest regards Helen

I didn't know they had it at the Universal Studios in Orlando. I've never been there. Is it the same thing?
reply by Helen Bach on 25-Mar-2016
Yes, it sounds like it. We were lucky enough to be in Florida 2004 &02008. A big thing coming from the north of England.

Hi Shari...I just can't get over your family! But I guess we all have these sorts of problems. This chapter reminds me of when we took our son to King's Island when he was six. There is or was, a roller coaster called The Beast. It was great. But he saw the cars returning so quick he said, and I quote. "This won't be scary." AND I have a photo of him screaming his head off halfway thru when they snap your pix! I need to find that. And I hope Frank and you too, are doing well. x

Don't you love it when kids get a surprise. :-) You had to be 40 inches tall to go on this ride and be with an adult.
