What a beautiful way to remember your mother. In her time people who had least, gave the most.
I am sorry that she did not get to stay a little longer with you all.
hugs

As a gifted poet, what did you learn from her? You are in the top 20 on this website so you yourself are one of the most respected. This is a special legacy to a woman who was so selfless and artistic. I love the free verse you offer. -Bill
BTW, were you able to read my poem, :A Christmas Faith"?

Great words of tribute to your mom, such truth as you speak of her willingness to help other, and not thinking of self. Nothing will ever replace a good mother. A blessing from the almighty for sure, she is.

What a lovely tribute to your mother, Dawn. It's not till we are older that we appreciate all that our mothers did and in some cases still do for us. I think you have expressed this beautifully in this wonderful poem.

Apart from having the special benefit of your strong love, you mother was obviously very artistically talented, from your notes, Dawn.
You depict a lady of longer years who had drudged and struggled to bring up a family with the resultant dramatic but kindly expressed physical results.
Subtle touches of random rhyme and alliteration in this top free verse.
Best wishes, Ray xx

Thank you so much, my friend. :) (This isn't the one I mentioned in my review that yours inspired, although it's much more positive - but the other one is coming up soon...)

Our mother's do anything for us as children. That's where we learn to give all we have to our children. You must keep on singing, find your new voice range, I always sings with my daughter, and we both love singing. No opera stars just singing.

Hi Dawn,
This is a lovely tribute that any mother would be proud to have told about her.
The blank verse works well with the incidental / occasional rhymes there too.
A fine piece.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful heartfelt poem. I read it once by it's self, then twice more while listening to the wonderful classic, Ava Maria. :-)

not only did she tread the path of angels,
surely she was one with her caring heart.
Such a beautifully written poem, Dawn -
touching and sentimental - a most pleasant
read.
