Riveting mythology reminded me of Cain and Abel and of an African myth I performed involving non-conjoined twins. You must have read Joseph Cambell because this chapter feels large, universal. The myth of Glnot Rhuether and Pondria was "realistic" because they are within the whelm of the type of beliefs that goes into creating myths. I just learned the other day that Bram Stoker studied European folktales and mythology on vampires for several years before he wrote "Dracula." I rediscovered yesterday an early story I wrote inspired by Irish myths. A study of myths and folktale is an asset if you are a writer of fantasy, horror , or science fiction, as you have shown here. Thank you again for sharing and inspiring.

It was very interesting to know this part of the mythology.
The twins were cursed, but Rhuether was impatient and jealous of his brother's powers.
Pondria seems to have an idea. We'll see.
Very well written, good descriptions and intriguing.

This was a very interesting chapter you have penned. It was full of great descriptive wording and a lot of great dialog. The imagery is great also. I wish I had six stars for you Jay. Hugs, Teri

Teri, a hug from you is worth a six any day. I went back and checked your profile to make sure I would be hugging a female. At my age, it doesn't matter much anyway.

Thanks Jay. I am truly a female. That is a picture of my grandson. He will be two in February. Hugs, Teri

Great job, Jay, with the continuation of your story line. The dialogue and story details of their beginning story were particularly engaging. Cant wait to see what Doctrex has in mind.

Thank you, A.W. I hope you do go back. Although it's a long journey to the beginning. I'd settle for reserving a seat for you for the rest of the journey.

you always manage to surprise me. I don't typically read this genre, so it's an adventure for me each time. Nice chapter. Look forward to the next one!

Goody-goody, I get to reserve a seat for Robyn Corum. I'm thrilled whenever you read something by me. I have tremendous respect for your skills and discernment.

Once again you have continued a good post for this ongoing novel.
I had a hard time injecting myself in the myth, but knew I had to. "he gave us each magic? Remember? Mother explained it to us?" (I know it's small, but you need a capital 'h' on he)

Small! As Donald would say, "It was huge!" And of my 30 or so crits you were the only one to see it. Bless you, Barbara.

Decisive stuff, and heavy on the fantasy. Down to some nitty gritty. The story now starts to gather itself to move. And the writing is as precise as it must be. Let's hear the rest.

Excellent chapter Jay! I have to say, I really like the dialogue between these two. Their history, assuming that the main character really is Pondria, is fascinating. The idea of living with another person, conjoined at the ribs, is pretty awful to contemplate. I think I'd feel the same as Rhuether, I'd rather have the power to fly than to manipulate minds. You're right that two such powers working together would be immensely effective. But of course, human nature makes this hard (impossible?) to achieve.
Nice job. You've got me hooked on your fantastic creation, Jay :)

Haha, I'm gonna blow all my money on payday :)
Seriously, it's nice to have that extra star to give when coming across a really special story or poem.

Oh, this is going to be interesting. I can't wait to see what this idea is that Doctrex has. You are clever, Jay, working in a revision of the facts we need to remember about the twins - that gave us an opportunity to keep the story straight in our heads, Giddy

THanks Giddy. I'm relieved. I was afraid it would be too obvious and not seamless. But everything that happened in Book I has to be reviewed now and again.
