I guess I am luckier than I realized. My daughters can be a pain, but they are not demanding...of course that all could have changed since I haven't seen them since 2004...LOL I am looking forward to your daughter's visit. I do hope it all went well.

    Anna's a demanding child too. Maybe it's a gene that I didn't get. LOL

I'm like you when it comes to the 'granny' thing. Although I helped as much as I could when my daughter returned to work, I find it easier to be a granny at a distance, and just see her once in a while. Her parents both being pastors in a huge Australian church, she sees enough 'relatives' every day to keep her entertained.

Lol, it must have been a relief that you couldn't put Nichole and Jeff up, albeit it costly. I look forward to hearing what happened after they arrived.

1.) "Your turn to visit," I chirped over the phone in the spring of 2005(.)

Hmmm....sounds like this could get rather interesting...

Hi Shari,

This is another terrific chapter. LOL - I love your line about seeing your granddaughter for the first time.

I can't believe Nichole had the audacity to make demands on a hotel room when you were fitting the bill.

Found no spag but had no sleep so can't count on me, LOL.

Hugs,
Lou

Still having trouble with sleep, huh? Have you tried reading a boring book ten minutes before lights out?
Nichole herself coined the phrase -hotel snob. Hey, we didn't get a bigger house on purpose. I like my privacy at night and come morning, I don't want to talk to anyone.

You have such a bizarre family constellation, Shari. It seems like there is one element in each family unit that abrades someone from another family unit. Makes for exciting family reunions.

Of course you don't seem me writing about my extended family.

A six means a lot from you. In case you didn't notice, my daughter acts a lot like my sister. Funny because Nichole didn't care for Barbara.

Wow! This very well written chapter was extremely entertaining. I enjoyed your talk about Anna and Alex. I'm happy to hear the poor boy is standing up for himself. I still don't care for Jeff any more than you do. I'm looking forward to more of this family reunion stuff. It hits home a lot. Best wishes, my good friend.

Always with respect,

Spitfire, this is a solid installment written in a way that communicates effectively. The length is appropriate for the reviewer and has a sound dialogue. Nicely done in a convincing way. :0 GracieAnn

Nichole sounds really picky about lodgings. Yikes! Did they have enough money to keep her in the high style she insisted on from your money? If I'd been you, I would have just gone to visit her, every year.

My daughter just left for NV today after being here nearly a week. I miss her already. She comes out twice a year when her work schedule is slow. This time she brought her fiance, Ben. He's so quiet... not at all like her or us. All her other bf's had been talkative and fun. He bored me silly... LOL! I think that he was just shy and didn't want to say the wrong thing. He's nice, just creepily quiet. But she is crazy about him and that's all that matters. He seems to share her feelings.. they're a lovey dovey couple, and it's her choic, not mine. But I have to say I liked the last guy much better, and so did Mark. He was fun to talk to, but Katy said she couldn't live with him....after three years. Kids have to make their own choices, as you know, and there's no accounting for taste.

creepily quiet. An ominous choice of words. Jeff is creepily noisy! We bought a smaller house thank goodness, or my son would spending nights here with the kiddies and wife. Much as I love them, I like my quiet space. At this point, Nichole has been promoted as director earning 80,000 a year which is small change in CA.

I hear your sister's influence in everything Nichole says and does. That's got to grate on you.
Maybe, it's best they don't have any children. She's the baby. lol I feel sorry for Jeff, even though you don't like him. He has to cater to Princess Nichole.

Nichole didn't like my sister, but you see what I see. They are a lot alike. Don't feel sorry for Jeff. He has a Peter Pan Syndrome. Even his wife now sees that. He should cater to her. She supports him. More about that in a later chapter.

Oh, I didn't remember that he doesn't work. Another reason to not have children. Both are dysfunctional. What need does he fufill for her. I can see that she's his support system. If it's sex, that won't last forever.

I wish to heaven I could answer that question. He makes her laugh, I guess.

This is a really hard chapter to review. The reader wants to state their mind and have an opinion about your spoilt daughter, but on the other hand, the reader does not wish to offend you, the writer, because you are also the mother of this brat! All mothers love their daughters no matter how awful, spoilt and trying they are.
:)
And no Mom wants to hear ugly things said about their precious daughter!
I am sure you love her to bits, but my oh my, she's a pampered lass.

That's okay, Nicole. She is spoiled-- my fault and Jeff's too. She can twist him around her finger. But another chapter will present a different side.
