As they say,'what goes around, comes around.' Sometimes we don't hear about it, but I have seen a few spiteful people get their comeuppance with time. Like you, I have to confess to feeling a great deal of satisfaction when it happened!

Thanks, Alex, for getting the reason I included this chapter.

Well written and offering an insight into how those in charge are so callous when dealing with others.
I look forward to reading more and hope to catch up on some previous chapters

It's great you got a handle on your issues, Shari, and it must have been satisfying when you got to gloat a bit with Piggy's frustration and anger. Just a couple of things to look at to see if you agree...
But by 2001, gifted or honor classes had completely [completely] disappeared
hardbacks and picture books about [the] England
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

Thanks, Karyn, for noting my typos. Happens when I make revisions! I have to admit I love it when something comes back to bite you on the rump.

Hi, Shari.
As you know, I rarely review prose - but I usually READ yours as they always so entertaining. I just don't like pretending to writers I've read and thought about every detail, when I haven't time or recollection to put it all in a review.
In your 'Previously' - I think it should read, '...WHO she met online.'
I like your attitude of 'touching souls' in the less gifted pupils, and I would imagine when your teaching sticks with them, it's far more rewarding. Mind you, I have no idea what an 'honours class' is, except they're probably the brightest pupils.
I'd be too cynical and self-opinionated to take advice from a therapist, but I'm pleased it worked for you. 'Piggy eyes' - MEEOW! LOL.
Ah - no surprise the gifted kids are mostly snobs - probably coming from an exploitative and privileged background.
Anyway, this is a very accomplished, interesting and fun read, but I'll be here all day if I carry on dissecting and commenting in detail, so I'll just quickly read through the rest.
Here's a well-deserved sixer for the book as a whole.
Best wishes, Ray xx

I'm honored Sir Ray by the preference you show me. Thanks so much for the sixer. I made the change of "that" to "who" Ironic because I always faulted students for that same error.
Yes, I'm being catty. But for the most part, I did like Ellen.

It's always nice to see such people get what they dished out. Piggy Eyes knows now how you felt, but I doubt she made any connection. Now... how can Frank help?

I doubt she saw the connection either. What a let down for her --to be a floater after all those years.
Now, I have to get Frank back in the picture. :-)

My how quickly things changed at your school when the magnet schools took the honors students. My daughter went to Pine View in Sarasota.
I felt sorry for Ellen, but she hadn't been the nicest or most sympathetic soul either. I guess what goes around comes around.

I assume Pine View is a magnet school. Hillsborough County set them up in inner city schools in order to have their test scores balance out all the F's and thus bring up the school's rank.
Comment from Gloria ....
Ha, it sounds like Piggy Eyes got her comeuppance. There is some justice in the world, just not a lot.
Very interesting information, Shari. I like learning how the "new world" transformation occurred in schools.
Great job with this!

Appreciate that you commented on the new type of schools. I could have done an entire opinion essay on that.

Great job, Shari. Such an enjoyable series.
She was far more upset, angry, confused, when the guidance office commandered [...the guidance office COMMANDEERED ...]
. Ttwo years after Piggy Eyes gave [Stuttery "t"]
its artistic bulletin boards, cardboard displays [spacing problem between "boards" and "cardboard"]
my deparatment head would have to "float". [...my department head...]
I was late getting to this, so you probably have had them corrected by now. Sorry. By the way, I didn't point out the spacing errors between words except the one above when there wasn't one. You probably had five or six where there were two spaces between words.
If you paste this into word it will show up as a green squiggly.
It was entertaining, as usual, Shari. I was hurrahing for you even though you were too mature to gloat!

Ugh! The spell check on the edit page sucks. It shows the errors but doesn't change them. I assumed it did and never checked the original to see. Sigh..I did see many spacing errors. You're a dear to find all this and still give a five.
Thanks for the hurrah. I gloated when I got back home.

I don't generally down-rate for spacing unless it's flagrant and part of other signs showing the person just doesn't care. Not so in your case.

I found this less riveting because you are in a good place. Plus this chapter is explanatory..I am constantly amazed how some people treat others but don't recognise thar when the same thing happens to them
Well penned as usual Shari
God bless

I am so proud of you for not telling Ellen what you thought. I don't have that type of control...major problem. It seems everything worked out very well for you, I am so pleased. I found one minor spag:
