Hi, Roy,

Such a beautiful dedication to your grandson, and daughter too. I love your added notes about him being so sensitive. A great quality to possess in these hardened times.

Beautiful entry. Good luck in the contest.

Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'.... Jackie (*;*)

Hello Roy

A simple, elegant and delightful poem as tribute to your beloved grandson. He does sound like a beautiful boy in heart and soul, as well as good-looking like his granddad. :)) I love the photograph ... a special moment between mother and son. Your phrasing is magic and alive with very apt descriptions of a lively little boy and his gentle nature.

"My grandchild's like a butterfly,
a flitting vapour floating by, " .... 'a flitting vapour floating by' .... surreal and so expressive. Though I can hardly single these lines out, all the rest are just as good, "dancing jewels in raindrops' flight". A beautiful couplet to create a fine conclusion. So few words, yet I feel I know your grandson to his complete essence.

This is a spectacular poem and reminds me of my youngest son, perhaps at a slightly younger age, he burst into tears when Bambi's mother was shot and jumped into my arms. Even today, twenty years later, he is sensitive and so kind, a gentle soul, yet with inner strength. Lovely work and I wish you the best of luck for the contest. Hugs - Lovi xoxo

Thank you, this is such a beautifully expressed review, and indeed, you did capture the essence of Zach. He is the double of my wife and his mother rolled into one, already a budding fine musician, athlete, when my daughter was the same age, she played her flute by ear, went on to achieve a music degree, I hane no doubt the very nature of our Lord is imprinted on their souls, hearts and minds, as your son is, as per Is. 54:13, a stunning review, so much grace Lovi, thank you, I won't forget this, bless you, Roy.

    Hi Roy

My pleasure ... I loved your poem, and what a fine role model you must be. Music and sports ... a nice combination. Upbringing plays a major role in a child's development ... to grow up in a loving environment is one of the greatest gifts a child can receive. Both your daughter and grandson are a credit to you and your wife. I also love how you can express your huge big-hearted love in your work. Hugs - Lovi xoxo

Thank you for these precious and gracious words, Lovi, the only rights that God gives us, is the right to love, a difficult assignment, and it sounds like you have done this with your boy, despite difficulties, so well done, you, I have a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to share with me, it is always easier to do it this way, bless you, Roy.

This is so tender and sweet. You have a way of tapping into what really matters in this world, and marveling in it.

This line is pure magic:
dancing jewels in raindrops' flight

I can picture shimmering raindrops as I read these words.

You have an (seemingly effortless) ability to take what others would consider the "everyday" things in life, and transform them into something special and marvelous. I aim to achieve with my prose all that you have accomplished with your poetry.

What an amazing and touching description of a young child, tender and pure, delicate as a butterfly yet active as a dragonfly. I truly loved the expression, "his spirit pure as an angel's sigh." How descriptive! This is a delightful take on the butterfly theme, original and creative. I enjoyed this so much.

Well written poem by a man who obviously loves his grandson. He looks like his mother and, I might add, like his grandfather too. Thank you for sharing.

I just finished reviewing a poem about butterflies and commenting that they are a common stimulant for poetry, and here is one where, if not the stimulant, it is a least related to same. a pleasant read, my friend.

roy: I like the awesome comparison of the butterfly to your grandson. So full of energy and life and gentleness. I like your rhymes and beat...zap, nap, flight, light.

Wonderful poem, brother Roy, and a grand subject as well. What a blessing to have a Godly heritage...whether his or yours. May he always experience the blessing of the Lord our righteousness...:)
