Sometimes it is the small victories that keep us going and inspired. I love the title. The smiles of the proud parents watching and of the players as they extend those innings comes though. It is a fun and worthwhile game.

I coached baseball for 42 years and loved every day of it, not the parents, just the players and the sport. You seem to be person who knows and loves the game and the children too. Great job. :-)

Wow, 42 years. What levels? I also coached my daughter in girls softball. That was a lot of fun. The girls bring a different feel to the competition.
Thanks for reading. I appreciate the sharing. John

I coached from recreational, through Junior high, and high school. However, my heart was always with the younger children in Parks and Rec. The basics and fundamentals learned during those years often carry through the future. It is always a struggle to find parents to step up and make a difference. It's people like you who devote their time, that few of us really have, to make a difference. For those children, John, I'd just like to say THANKS. :-)

You told an amazing story in the few sentences. This reminded me of actually sitting in the stands and hearing the announcer's play by play. Good job and thanks for sharing. Your short piece has a good message.

That is what Sport really should be about, teaching kids to have enthusiasm and being inspired, not always winning. Good message and well written. Fitting image. Faye

Excellent 6 line writing. Writing was exiting.
( Go Blue Jays go! )
A tremendous effort from the bench warmers thwarted the opponents' momentum as the self- proclaimed Aluminum Splinters rose to the occasion by the banging out hit after hit.

This is a solid poem my friend and a very uplifting one. We don't have that sport here, but a game called rounders which children used to play in the playground in their lunch breaks. Thank you for sharing.

You write it very well and it has a good flow. You get a lot in, in such a short story.
I will admit I don't have much of a clue about the game, but that doesn't mean it's not worth reading. Well done Ulla

G'day John. I take it you are a baseball fan mate. It is great when the lessor name players turn out to be game changers, I just love it when that happens. Great stuff Sir. Cheers Fez

John, It amazes me how you could compose a six sentence complete story in a paragraph. The sentences are complete with real compassion and meaning for the game of baseball and the more importantly, the game of life. Excellent! Carole

I was shocked to learn online today that baseball had started. I must prepare to post my own baseball story in a week. Thanks for reminding me and thank you for your story. I hope it is a great season.
