We're fully on the same page here, my friend. It bothers the wife quite a bit more than me I suppose because it's more final for her even though it really is for me too. She has quite a few T.V. shows she avoids, reunions shows, miracle baby medical shows and the like. It isn't a terrible trauma or anything, but why put ones self through the little twinge, yes? Beautifully penned. This will be appreciated by many who sit on the sidelines in silence. Well done. mikey

Thanks mate you must have missed this on the first round three years ago. Appreciate you coming by. I have another one about Clingy Mums I might run again, too. People who won't even allow someone a cuddle of their little one.

A real personal piece that engages the reader and conveys a lot of emotion. I think there is a lot of people that will really relate to this piece. I has good structure and flows well

Great stuff.

A very touching writing prompt entry.
The sadness and deep emotion of parenthood denied is so well portrayed.
As a mother I am very privileged but have seen the deep sadness of someone close to me who has so far been denied this gift.
I feel deep compassion for you both and all who have been denied.
:-) Shirley

Contest long gone Sis. We mist not have been connected back when I posted this originally. It is a repost from three years ago as it is Mother's Day here already. Glad we have it on the same day not like Father's and other days we all share.

Oh this tore at my heartstrings. My daughter and her husband cant have children, he had testicular cancer as a teenager, and she is starting to feel the empty nest but tries not to show it.
This was excellently done with the painful emotion showing through.

Hi Barb, thanks for coming by. Not sure how much of my autobiography you have seen but I made reference to Mother in Law to be at the time's reaction when we told her we wanted to get married. Long story but I will be putting that up for a Re post in a little bit. No rewards on that atm. Louise is fertile I am the 'sterile cuckoo' I could have had test cancer had they not removed one of my testicles at 16. I was promised I could still father, but they were wrong!

Oh, I really liked your poem, and your Dear wife, is quite the knitter! though, too, it can be so hard for moms, too. Yes, though some of us moms, it seems, have had to deal with so much, and with adult kids who come in the world like gentle pit bull puppies...then grow, and turn with their behavior to not what we expected, to adult ones, in changing how the way they treat their parents due to a terrible war, bad habits, a divorce, or who knows what...Although, do have one daughter,41, who does cherish her parents as she is so caring... My two sons, 38, need at times, I feel intervention or more, though all of my three have many medical woes, having my daughter with rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus and one son 100% disabled through the VA, with PTSD, TBI, diabetes, fatty liver disease, & hopefully soon ,in the works, to get surgery (gastric by-pass) and his twin has extremely bad feet, knees and ankles that have had numerous surgeries on them and do take that in consideration, as these problems never existed when they were under my wing....Though love all three, and, too, all have made me a grandma ( though only really see one 2 yr boy old a lot , the other one , never visits hardly, even though, he lives a little over an hour away.... And, truly miss not seeing my 2 granddaughters, and my daughter's 19 yr old son, & her a lot,....as they, live States away in Texas....And always look for a silver lining in what I am currently dealing with , and try to keep a timeless hope, everyday no matter what, through prayer and belief in Jesus and God above, always helps me get through so very much.
Hugs, to your wife and hope you are both doing well in Australia.

Children are the key part of any family. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very interesting read. There is very good imagery.

As a dad and grandad, I can relate to Louise's pain. I had no plans to be a father Geoff, but Elaine desired children and quite frankly I doubted my ability to be a caring father, but we tried, and within a fortnight Elaine fell pregnant to our first child Rebecca, I have adored both my girls from their birth, God had other plans for me. So I know how you and Louise feel, but I'm sure you have other children in God, I have had a long association with two African boys, whose Pastor father was murdered in the Congo, I have been a surrogate grandfather to them both, fo 10 years now, we have a deep and abiding affection between my wife, myself and the boys, I taught them to play guitar, now Huri plays in the platform in our church, sure to be joined by his brother Aaron, well done, well written Geoff, blessings, Roy

Thanks Bro I thought you would have seen this back when I wrote it in 2013. Maybe we weren't known to each other, back then.
Appreciate your kind words. I had a pen pal in the Congo years ago too dunno what ever happened to him Prechard Mc Donald his name was I think he was an orphan as well. I am guessing he might be almost my age now too.
