Awww! That held so much loving thought and compassion. I don't often read the poems of family because they are too mushy but that was exquisite in its simple elegance. I loved the imagery! Great poem! :)

Best,
Meg

This is really nice Betty. A lovely little snapshot in the life of a proud mother and grandmother. I love how you all danced together - so moving. I feel like I'm there observing as your descriptions and narrative are very effective. The love just oozes through your poem!
Regards, Debra :)

great pairing of photo and poem
This poem really speaks to me - there is no lovelier sight and no more inspiring to me than to see my precious daughter holding her precious son :-) You convey that so well, and your closing moved me to tears :-) Brooke

Fondly I recalled, how once upon a time,
this child's mother was that little girl of mine.
Then wiping the tears from out of my eyes,
bidding the past adieu, inspired by you,
I got up and I danced too.

How wonderful the thoughts that come to us as we dance around in the moonlight, eh? A beautiful write girl that I hope will last forever.

Thank you so much. That little girl is now almost 16. I still see her as that tiny baby being held by her mom.

This is a lovely free verse poem dear writer. You've really captivated the feelings of a grandmother/father for their daughter and newborn grandchild really well. Becoming a grandparent is so wonderful and we do reminisce on when our children were that size :). Your poem is full of imagery with which I certainly can identify!

I liked the closing lines:

"Fondly I recalled, how once upon a time,
this child's mother was that little girl of mine.
Then wiping the tears from out of my eyes,
bidding the past adieu, inspired by you,
I got up and I danced too".

Best wishes ::)

Christine

This is such a beautiful tender poem from a mother and granny. The scene of a family where everyone dances with happy tears. Each moment the sight of her dancing brings back memories of how they were small once too.
Excellent write with a tender loving heart of a granny.
Well done. Bravo. out of sixers, so a Virtual ******.
Cheerio, Ritchie.

Oh my gosh! No wonder you are so elated and happy, smiles.
I have 3 stray beautiful kittens and my hands are tied. But wouldn't mind another one if I have the time!
You must be happily busy babysitting and enjoying time with them too on weekends.
    Cheerio, hugs, Ritchie. Congrats too!

You brought a tear to my eye as well, I remember so well dancing with my baby and then little girl. She loved me to dance with her, she is now a beautiful twenty one year old woman and still dances with the old man once in a while. How much I love her and your little piece captured it perfectly.
