Very cute, jmdg1954, very cute indeed... Early Bird specials and Viagra: Sounds like a winning marketing campaign if you ask me! LOL. Good job, and good luck!

this is delicious and probably closer to the truth than most of the romantic stories...One last fling for old times sake...At least he'd go out with a bang!

Very funny, yet realistic in the sense that older people do forget, or remember certain things and not others.
I loved the last couple of lines about the viagra and the life insurance.
Good luck in the contest
Warmest regards

Hey, that's not fair. I proposed to Marilyn exactly forty-nine years ago and it seems like yesterday. Are you trying to depict what will happen by my fifty-sixth anniversary? This is enough to make my seventy-five year-old toenails curl up...er...omg they already did that.
It's not good to make fun of old fools, you'll be one too if you live long enough.
Good luck in the contest can I come with the other retired ROMEOs. I need breakfast too.

You describe old people's habit well. They cannot remember last night but have terrific memories of what happened 50 years ago. Interesting valentine story.

This is a very cute flash fiction story. I like the dialog after Alec wakes up and the ending to your story.
A couple suggestions:
1. The Romeo's agreed to take out there sweethearts."--shouldn't "there" be spelled "their"?
2. because if I wear it, it will give me goosebumpies--shouldn't it be if "she" wears it, it will give me goosebumpies?
Good luck with the contest. Very cute story. Thanks for sharing.

I really enjoyed this story of young love remembered ... and love continues. Who needs Denny's any way? Your dialogue is wonderful, John, and the story made me smile ... and hope that kind of passion exists for every couple married for 56 years. I loved the play on Romeo...very creative.
Just a couple of minor spags to look over to see if you agree...
Oops, I almost forgot, than(then) I went ...
"The boutique, where I bought that silky red(-)laced, see(-)through, oh I love it, never(-)take(-)it(-)out(-)of(-)the(-)box(-)teddy, because if I wear it, it will give me goosebumpies."(If YOU wear it...or she wears it?)
put(needs a space here)'em in
The Romeo's(Romeos) agreed to take out (their) there sweethearts.
Yea, yea, come on(,) Romeo(, commas before and after a direct address if in the middle of a sentence)
Alright, alright. (All right, all right.)
Hey(,)Jen, I
Come here(,) Romeo
Best wishes in the contest with this entertaining story.
