What truth there is contained in this poem. What would we do without the ability to create something. I love the thought that we all need to create at least one thing to be complete. Great job.

Yes, we all do need to create. Sometimes we are creating when we are not aware of it; at least we don't put that label on it. But, we are. And it is a part of making us complete and gives so much hope within our own selves. Thank you for your lovely review. Sue

Very great message. It is an easy poem to read with a worldly meaning. So often I see and hear others speak of art as though it were un-necessary because they could not comprehend its meaning or purpose. To me not everything has to have a meaning and a purpose and not everyone is going to see or feel the same about individaul art but you are correct in saying the artist knows! It is one of my pet peves when I have a art show, someone ask what does it mean? It means whatever you want it to me! Thank you, for this essential poem helping me to accept myself and my art!

Wow! Your last statement has me overwhelmed. To think my simple words have been of even the smallest of help is an incredible thing. I've had so much help from artists (painters and writers) who have given me so much encouragement. It's what is so wonderful about the arts. What type of work do you show? Would love to know. Do you have solo shows? Our work could never satisfy everyone. If we can be fulfilled with expressing what we need to, all we can do is hope that others may receive something from it also. One reason people ask is because they are insecure in not knowing if they should interpret it from the artist's point of view or not. They just don't know what to do with it! HA! There should be a sign upon entering an exhibit that says, "Don't ask - just look and feel". Ha!! Thanks for your wonderful compliments on this work. And for your very generous review. Sue

I do shows in private showing and small galleries. I would like to post something on fanart but have yet to set it up. I am a little afraid, people can be so unkind in their responses to art without much forthought into what it takes and the emotions entailed. I am even more protective of my paintings and such than I am my writing. I am a bit touchy about the writing as well but not as much as I imagine I would be with my painting. I used to do outdoor art show about 15 to 20 a season but it was too trying on my psyche and I stopped. Can't say I miss it though. I paint more contemporary, serealist, impresionism and realist. Where I live they like paintings of tractors, barns and cows!? Go figure. I have sold more paintings north have not tried west!

So nice to have someone to converse with on art of any kind. Thank you for your interest and you are most welcome of review! I enjoyed the reading! best regards!

A message in this poem I take to read as - art comes in all forms - painting, poetry even gardening. Good rhyme and structure and flow.

Dear sixteezkid,
You never cease to amaze me with your talent! And this one was no exception! As a writer, a thespian, a crafter and aspiring 'artist' it's heart warming to know that the 'art of creating art' is a gift that we (mankind) are blessed with.
Thanks so very much for sharing!
Sincerely,
womanwriter

Yes....the "art of creating art". Brilliantly put! I'd like to have 10 lives so in each one of them, I could be a painter, then an actor, then a classical pianist and on and on and on! Ha! But, I am content for now to be a major appreciator of the arts! Very fulfilling in itself. Thank you for your very kind words and review. With warmest regards, Sue

This is a wonderful work. I love the way you express the desire to feel emotion and see beauty. It would be a terrible world without those things in it. I found no errors that need correction. This is beautifully written. :)

To paraphrase a popular saying, "Understanding any for of art is in the eyes of the beholder." Very well written with good imagery and descriptive scheme.

*Written in iambic tetrameter - abcb rhyme scheme

I will never fully comprehend these words (LOL)
but your poetry is beautiful

I sure wish some of you poets lived beside me so I could get you to drill that first part (*) in my brain. LOL

    Okay - Crash Course:

Iambic: One "unstressed" syllable followed by a "STRESSED" syllable.

    Like this: da/DUM/da/DUM/da/DUM/da/DUM

Each one of these da/DUM's is ONE IAMB (also called a foot)
The iamb (foot) is 2 syllables

Tetrameter: If you have 8 syllables (4 iambs), then it is a tetrameter

Pentameter: If you have 10 syllables (5 iambs), then it is a pentameter

A sonnet is written in Iambic Pentameter.
Each line is 10 syllables (5 iambs)

Here is an example of one line of a sonnet

    da/DUM/da/DUM/da/DUM/da/DUM/da/DUM (5 iambs - 10 syllables)

First syllable is unstressed, next one is stressed, etc.

Here is one line written in sonnet:

to MOR row IS aNOTHer DAY for ME

    See? Not difficult!!

A little bit of practice and you're flying! Ha!

Thanks very much for your great review.
    With regards,
    Sue

I saved your crash course. but I'm a lost cause I don't know how to do what you did with each of the words

to MOR row IS aNOTHer DAY for ME

how do you know what is the da and what is the DUM

is unstressed kind of like a short vowel and the stressed the long vowel? or don't it have anything to do with that?

    See I told you LOL

I will go over this again since I kept it and wow thanks.... if I can get this down right I could maybe write come good stuff. LOL

reply by the author on 10-Mar-2009
No. Nothing to do with vowels. All about where the accent lies.

Send me a P.M. to remind me to go over it a bit more. I'd love to help.
It's just 4:00 a.m. right now and I'm off to bed. And don't want to forget.

So, shoot me off a PM as a reminder.
Trust me...you'll "get it" soon. It really isn't difficult.

    CHEERS!

Now that is the kind of art I could look at for hours and I'm sure inspiration would not be far away, ha ha. That is a bit of an old movie friend[I've seen it], it was different and definitely left an impression. Some of the fight scenes were cool also. Excellent poem, beautifully crafted!
